Strategies in Manual Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Perhaps Civ III should include strategies in the manual as an extra incentive for people to buy the game?

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Not really necessary. You can be sure that within days of Civ 3 being released, more strategies than Firaxis could fit in the manual would have been place on Apolyton. Within weeks, even more strategies would have been found, more advanced strategies, counter-strategies, all continually evolving.

Theres really no need to waste manual space by including strategies in it.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Um, nah..

I don't think that it is necessary to include strategies. Besides, like Skanky said, there will be oodles and oodles of quality strats here at Apolyton before Prima can shake a stick at 'em.

The manual though should contain complete information about the game, such as how combats are resolved.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

A tutorial would be good for the newbies, but anything longer than maybe a few hints or suggestions on how to use a certain game feature would be uneccessary.

Get a bigger avatar today!

The SMAC manual included two pages of 'remarks and tips'. They werenŽt spectacular (sort of 'build a defensive unit after founding a new base'), but the manual was more complete in a way. So IŽd like to see a small 'strategy' section in the (hopefully big and chunky) Civ3 manual.

Firaxis has been better about their manuals than most companies, but don't forget that:

1. There will be a separate "strategy guide", which the publishers will make money from (I'm not sure whether the developers do or not), so why give strategies away for free with the game when you can charge $12.95 for them?

2. A lot of the game mechanics are tweaked right up to the moment the game goes Gold, but manuals are printed pretty far in advance. I don't know if you'll see a lot of specific information.

I think the best idea is to keep checking back here.

These strategy guides are usually horrible compared to forums like apolyton. Its amazing they still sell them. But they get money off of it, so thats all that matters.

I'm pretty confident that Velocyrix (of SMAC Guide's fame) will deliver another work of art, right here on Apolyton, so why bother?

Inflate your Upload Space

A strategy guide wouldn't be much incentive (is that how its spelt ?) to buy the game. It would just take up space, and have more innocent trees cut down, and waste more ink, and pollute the atmosphere in the manufacturing, and be useless because no two civs are the same with CSU's and different abilities, and Apolyton does a good job of giving out strategies, and...
