Capitalization is not an improvement, wonder etc. It generates more money from your cities, depending on the production and is very useful if you're low on money or have a negative tax income.

I'll put it in a more easier way (shawtin looks
to be a newbie). When "producing" the Capitalization
in a city (in the example, the Celts "produce" it in Cardiff).
All the city's the "shields" (compare to material) produced
are converted to one unit of gold per every "shield".
The total amount of gold gained from a city in one turn
is added to the tax incomes of the turn. So for instance
if the Celtic empire got 120 in taxes per turn
before Cardiff switched to capitalization, they
could now get perhaps 15 gold extra per turn.
That would be a total income of 135 per turn.

Secret hint: capitalization has been the key to
the success of the Celts and me - Rasbelin.

Got it now, shawtin?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Let me add something, because I remember being confused by this as a newbie. Capitalization is listed as requiring a certain number of turns to build, just like any other city improvement, but this is totally meaningless! It doesn't require any turns; it kicks in right away, and happens evey turn. So ignore that.

Yeah i sort of guessed that you kept it on but Juggler confirmed that to me. So when you've built everything and got a huge army up in one city, should you put Capatilization in production then or continue with the massive army that will take away all the food.

Taking out all food? I think you mean the "shields". Right?

It's hard to give any comments on your strategy,
because it depends on your aims and goals as the ruler
of your empire. If my conclusion is right, your're preparing
an army for invading some neighboring nation or at least
some of its cities. I that case it would be wise to build
defense units for the new cities in forehand, so that you
could easily transfer them to the occupied cities.

If you could tell more about your target/s, then I could
provide you with more hints & tips.

one other interesting thing about capitalization. If you change to Capitaization from building a wonder, you will get a message saying you will lose half your shileds for switching. if you later switch back to a wonder, you will have the same amount of shields as when you switch. There is no penalty, really

Talking about this quote... Remember, shawtin, that everytime you "build" a settler or a engineer, these special units (which also requires one population from the city when built) eat one or two food/turn from the city´s food production. Other units don´t eat food (very realistic...).

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

When you "build" Capitalization, shields required for unit support will not yield gold, but will go on supporting the units. Units other than the settler/engineer do not require food.
