Just wondering, what is the main purpose for closing spam threads here if post counts no longer "count"?

Do they sully the forums too much and make "good" threads drop in page #?

I find it interesting that some posters think I should post what suits them or what their idea of trolling is.

I think its disturbing that Ming closed a perfectly legitimate poll just because it touched on a controversial subject - the fact that Third World lives are implicitly or explicitly seen as of less value than first world lives.

I find it sad that Ming then decided to close my thread complaining here about that. Very sad indeed.

As for trolling, its not a title I sought and to see everything I post as just some sort of provocation is well wide of the mark. I am genuinely interested in the question of the value people place on lives because actually its not such an easy question to answer. If, for example, you are at war with someone I would have thought you could argue that you place a higher premium on the lives of those from your side.

Its a shame we can't debate that question on the OT.

But I understand where Ming is coming from - I saw Oprah yesterday and it seems some people have completely lost perspective on this whole thing.
