Ming closes a thread of mine without good reason and then he closes a thread here complaining about his actions? That's really dirty pool

I still don't know why you had a problem with the thread in question. Where was the spam? Obviously you don't want that decision scrutinised.

Its a very pertinent issue as to whether some lives are more valuable than others.

And you could do me the common courtesy of answering my PM as well

I've posted a few threads recently trying in a round about way to remind people that beyond all this bombing enthusiasm there are real people getting hit, just like at the WTC. 4 UN workers yesterday.

We tend to forget that in all those abstract bomb sight shots.

Well, that's a legitimate topic, certainly worthy of discussion.
But it's also true you don't advocate a military responce, is that not so?

well, I think a legit problem at Apolyton is that there is a large number of idealist kids who have little or no practical knowledge of life, and they dominate many topics, with flaming (and misplaced) idealism.

That said, it could be construed, as you assert, that your legit attempt at assertaining whether people feel the way they do, is a troll, because of your :

a)Reputation (this was also a negative, I think, in the MP issue)
b)Your attempt to use wit in the poll
c)Previous history with both Ming and MarkG

The children can be entertaining, but also quite tiresome, as they delight in tripping up anyone over a span of posts, when many of the issues discussed are of deep personal concern (I had a very hard time remaining objective about the attack, having lived through it, and it does indeed make me ill to see some college kid wet behind the ears tell me my friends died because of some issue of 25+ years ago, but that's another issue)

The simple fact is, US history is taught differnetly here as opposed to elseware, and that causes the problems, I think.

As an Aussie, I'm sure your well aware of your nations sacrifice in many wars (My Uncle, who lives in Canberra, can't talk about Gallipoli without getting worked up), so I'm sure you understand why Americans resent these kinds of questions.

It makes it appear as if we are unjustified in our rage and our grief.
I have never given in and said to bomb them all to hell, but I won't lie and say I never felt that impulse.
But I never gave into it, either.
And I never will.

I thought the topic was interesting that's all - and I don't think there's an easy answer to it either.

If all lives are of equal value its hard to justify taking sides in war - but most of us do take sides, and we see nothing morally wrong with that. Its a conundrum.

The kids in the OT were grating on the nerves a bit.

I'm greatly troubled by innocents getting killed in all this.

Gotta say it AH, the poll you posted was intended to incite people. Don'y deny it. I looked over your 'options'. You obviously feel that we live in such a perfect society that all criminals surrender peacefully with no bloodshed and Americans ignore it and go in with guns blazing, killing everyone surruonding said criminal. If you're going to post a poll like that, make serious responses part of the poll or no one will care.

BTW Chris, I'm in college and in favor of bombing Afghanistan. Generalizations are dangerous.

I think I was more affraid that the world would just go buisness as usual, and forget about this in a month.

Be fore the bombings began, I was a helpless victim, now I know what those poor bastards are going through in Kabul, the ones who hate the Taliban.

And your right, we should have, but on the other hand, our feelings would have been buried under a lot of the rethoric that goes on there.

I would argue the "without good reason", but you won't be convinced no matter what, since you are just trolling anyway.

I closed the thread, because you had had your say, YOUR opinion WAS heard... but, you added nothing new. Just the same stuff again... Just as you have done in this thread.
