Are there lots of useless stats? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

I want to know exactly how many legions i have, their success rate compared to any of my enemies armies, how many i've lost, and even what the average 25-30 year old legionairre eats for breakfast. I want to know how literate my populations is, broken up by sex and age group, and possibly even the average number of books read by my citizens each year. I want to see bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts about anything and everything possible. I want to see how much each city costs me to run, how much each city contributes, and even a history of each cities performance since they were founded. I want to see the proposed blueprints of the new granary i plan to build, and even how many mouths it's expected to be able to feed!

Ok, so maybe not ALL this. But you get the idea. Firaxis, will my urge for statstics be fulfilled? :insert "hope" smiley here:

I loved the demographics screen in civ 2. This time, they seem to have merged it with the top 5 cities, and all the old stats appear to be there. I hope there are new ones too, but I doubt it.

My only wish is that the stats can be stored in a special logfile that can be exported to a spreadsheet or stat program.

Suffering from ads?

If you think that's nerdy, think of the diehard players who wrote those numbers down by hand in a txt file or spreadsheet. Imagine, years later they can print it all out and enjoy their tales of conquest at a roaring fireplace with a glass of brandy.

I agree those stats where cool, I hope they are in...

It's too late now anyway, unless it would get into a patch, but I guess if it was good in civ2 they will have kept it, since Firaxis said they kept the good things from civ2.

Yes, lots and lots of stupid statistics.

Making them dumpable to a log file would be great as well. I'd just find the correlation between longevity and military service in Civ3.

I am firmly pro-worthless statistic, I truly hope there are quite a few we can view in the game.

An interesting Apolyton statistic would be what is the likelyhood that someone will post onto this thread DEMANDING that Dan answer this question immediately? Unfortunately, I think it is quite possible. Sorry Dan.

Im all for useless stats. If i want to know just how much toilet paper each person in my kingdom uses on average per year, i should be able to easily find out! Of course, im all for slightly more useful information as well, like how many battles on average each type of unit wins/loses etc.

Go Mark. Especially statistics that require the designer to explain how they are derived. This time though, I'd prefer the program work for all civs.
(In civ 2 the GNP and avg income per citizen calculations are broke for the purple civ. Others could be broken, but how would you tell, since you can't determine how they were derived without either a statistics or mathematics degree. )
