Given the opportunity from a question by Seeker in another thread, here is an update on the kind of ads that carry
- UGO ads
468x60 ads shown on the top of all pages. Run by UGO. Both the number of times they are shown(adviews) and the percentage of people who click on them(CTR-Click Through Ratio) matter to us.
- "Big Apolyton" ads
468x60 ads shown below the UGO ads on all pages(except from the page and the forums if your style is a "Special" one). Run by us(doh!). Adviews and CTR are irellevant, since currently all of them are based on the CPA model(Cost Per Action). E.g. clicking is not enough, the visitor must do something (buy something(Amazon,Chips&Bits), register(eBay), etc) in order for us to earn something. Right now we also have banners for our Sid Meier interview and Top40-Charts.com which of course dont pay anything.
- "Small Apolyton" ads
120x120 or similar sizes ads, found in some of the sections(Misc, Civ3, etc). Except from the text one from About.com they are all similar to the "Big" ads(CPA based). The About.com text links are paying according to the number of clicks on them.
- "Apolyton Pop-up" ads
There are two kinds:
a) A generic pop-up which shows up in the main forum page if you have the Special style for it or if you are logged off or if you are a guest. It also shows up when you download a file from the file databases or a forum attachment(regardless of your style). These pay based on the unique number of people who see them
b) A pop-up with an Apolyton t-shirt showing up once per session after a visit on our front page or the Civ3 main page. This one obviously pays up if the visitor ends up buying something from our store.
Now, if i could remember what was seeker's question....

I tried buying a shirt about 2 weeks ago(it still does it now), but when I select "add to cart", I immediately get a page that says "your shopping cart is empty."???
I want the Nuclear white T-Shirt.
