The games covered began to lose popularity.
Ladder activity dropped considerably.
Tribes (ran by me) was just about the only activity in GL in the years 2000-2001, besides the argument over who was in 1st and how they were cheating, only playing certain maps, or certain people, etc.
The other GL staff members promise a new version and new game coverage. Later they promise some sort of buy out by random group of one staff member's friends, never panned out.
Finally tribes activty slows to a hand full of active tribes. Its about this time I get a real job and forget about tribes, or update about once every 2 weeks (you guys took 6 or 8 weeks to play one game anyway). Finally tribes floats into non-existance as well.
kent, the main programer, annouces he's not coding any more projects and slips into non-existance. Chad asks me if I care if he does want he wants with GL, I don't object, and consider it the end of my involvment.
Working, and being unable to code him self an updated GL, Frank goes to college and forgets the whole mess. Months later he's amazed Kent and Chad have'nt put a fork in GL yet.....and regrets losing the FTP password so he can't do it himself.

I can help you revive Gameleague to its former glory. Civ fan has decided not to support the tribes, and if Gameleague is willing to support it and reset the ranks (since some of the higher tribes are dead), we can have a go at it. I would need an automated tribe ladder and a ranking system similar to the one at civ fan. Contact me if interested.

actually you've wandered out of gameleague and into apolyton. click the banner in the upper left (Apolyton) or the forum jump: box in the lower right to explore the rest of the forums (most of them don't have the lingering odor of decay like this one)

Why don't you take a look at the CtP-Multiplaying forum here in Apolyton?
Along with PBEM, Internet games are aslo supported.
The only difference is that cheats are strictly banned.
