History Resource Page for Civ II Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

I was wondering if someone has already done this. I mean a page or list of good historic internet pages that can be of help for scenario design.

I tried to find one for the last couple of days but there doesn't seem to be a single one. So I assume there is none.

So I thought that it might be time for such a thing and I am planing to make one myself for my website. It would be a list of Links to various historic internet sites. Either with sections for ancient, medieval and modern or sorted by regions.
Also I general section with stuff that doesn't fit to the rest.

I do believe that this would be of great help to many scenario designers in spe who do lack the historic sources and for designers who need more information about their theme.

It would be very nice if you could give me suggestions and advice for such a project.
Also, if you know any good historic site you are welcome to tell me so I can include it into the list.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Here's two more. I actually first found those in some of Harlan Thompson's readme's with his scenarios. Those two are also linked through my civ2 site: http://ce.eng.usf.edu/pharos/wonders/
http://www.ukans.edu/history/VL/

The last one may will at least help you to find loads of other history-sites.

It's not fantasy/fictional, but I think you will like this one:
The History of Costume- by Braun & Schneider.
It may be really useful for unit makers, and it covers all ages and all civilizations, until 1880. You only need a bit of imagination to transform the pictures into Civ2 units.

One more link to your Resources Pages! And this one's just GREAT!

Put an end to popups!

Theres a historic atlas called "The Times Historical Atlas" or something like that, it mentions it on the scenerio desingers league page, does anyone have this book? Or have accese to it, i.e. a library, friend or familly member etc? It sounds like a good investment for a scenerio designer, and if they had a scanner we could all benefit, i dunno, just a thought..

Zhuge - I have a copy of the Atlas (slightly waterstained from an overzealous neighbor deciding to pressure wash an open window) and it does have some decent maps, but they are more geopolitical than physical, so they are of limited use. I have recently seen that the National Geographic now has a CD of all of their maps available. I think that would be more useful...

Also it would be nice to know what you think of the Links that a currently on the Resource Page.

Got spare money?

I like reading and knowing about most historical periods, with no exception, but I think that most of people is normally more interested in info about ancient and medieval times than about the recent ones, which are more easily approachable.

I'm also very interested in Renaissance and Discovery Age, but maybe some of you already guessed that.

BTW, here's a pair more links:

That's great to hear!

I prefer ancient and medieval history myself, too. Also the late medieval time at the time where it evolved to the Age of Discoveries.
Ah, just about everything as long as it is interesting.

Oh, and jgv, those two links are very nice. Didn't know them yet. I really like the Discoveres Web.

It has the complete text of Sun Tzu's "Art of War" in English (Sun Tzu lived in the 5th century BC).
