The 3 AIs will be the usual annoying ones - Believers, who'll be at odds with the 2 knowledge based factions, Hive, who'll be after all your skins when you go Democratic and Pirates who'll get under everyone's skin by building seabases right beside your most producing landbases.

Game is set up - I just have to playtest about twenty or so turns to make sure that no-one is disadvantaged by the start.

(Master Devlin - I'll enclose with my e-mail giving the password a short explanation of play-by-e-mail procedures - if anyone else would like that, just holler)

I too would like a brief explanation of the procedures. I've played a few IP games, but PBEM is new to me.

I've e-mailed you to find out which free tech you want as the UoP.

A procedural word to the others. This is a scenarioed game - in other words, I build the map, and thru the scenario editor load the factions, tweak the AI, place a few additional resources to balance out the start positions, then I play the first turn for each of you to set the passwords etc. I move nothing, simply hitting "turn complete" when the screen opens after I have entered and confirmed the passwords.

When it has gone round once, I then save and exit when prompted for the starting player's password. So the year is now 2102 (unless I change the start to 2100 from 2101 - i can do that). from that point on it plays like a game (ie you are not using the "play scenario" command to start it, but the "load multiplayer game" command.

Phew - I didn't mean to be so long winded.

That's the reason I need arborman's choice of free tech - I'm prompted for that during that first turn.

Procedures and diplo screen management tips will be sent with your passwords.

Not long now (it play tested extremely well - watch out for those pirates - but I did tone them down from 'aggressive' to 'neutral' - they really did become obnoxious in the 25 or so turns I played)
