Italy Scenario- Which Civs? Put an end to popups!

I am trying to make a scenario about Italy from 510BC to about 270BC. Which civs should I include. ROmans are a must, as they are the one meant to be played. Here are several possibilities I am considering for the seven.

#1.
Romans
Etruscans
Latins
Samnians
Celts
Greeks
Hill Peoples

#2.
Romans
Etruscans
Latins
Samnians
Campanians
Greeks
Hill Peoples

#3.
Romans
Etruscans
Latins
Volci
Aequi
Samnians
Greeks

Hill Peoples, would represent the Aequi, Volci, and other semi-civilized tribes in the Appenine Mountains.

Should I use any of these combinations or a different one, and if so, what? Barbarians would naturally represent whichever is left out.

I would say combo #3. The barbarians could represent the celtic gauls who would intercept affairs throughout the game. Such as the sacking of Rome and attacks on the Etruscans. Also referring to the map issue if its not resolved, how about the map of italy from the Spartacus scenario by Alex Morr?

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Civfan- You may be right, but I was considering keeping the Campanians in as another possible civ meant to be played. Instead of just the Romans it might be interesting to try to conquer Italy as the Campanians.

Yes, I have seen his map. With enough alterations, it might be the best one possible. However, it seems to make Italy wider that it really is when I need a map in which Italy is somewhat long. I will most likely eventually use either his map or Mercator's.

Romans
Etruscans
Samnites
Umbrians
Ligurans
G(r)eeks
Some comprehension of southern tribes
Punians (if you're including Sicily)
There still is a lot of room for Barbarians: Celts, Venetans...

Dan, theres a scenario dealing with the rise of the Roman republic, I think its on Apolyton which might be a good reference to creating your scenario. I'll search for it and get back to you on this. I think its called rise of Italy.
