Lepanto- How important? Remove this text

Another of my Spanish's history threads. What do you think about Lepanto? My opinion is that Lepanto is important in the moral way more than in a material way, after all the Turks build new ships in few time (less than two years if I recall corectly).

Also important is the fact that Turks lose theirs betters ship-man (marineros, I don't know the english word ).

But, it's Lepanto the start of the Ottoman decadency? I think that not the start of decadency. In the 16xx, turks are strong...

And, perphas, the matter that Charles I of Spain expelled Turks from Viena is more important.

What do you think?

Tired of ads?

Lepanto was decissive in only one way: If the turks would have won, then the whole mediterranean sea would have fall in their hands, because the catholic powers hadn't enough reserves to stop a newer turk offensive. But with that victory, the catholic alliance saved the mediterranean, braking the turkish advance.

It can't be taken as a decissive victory, because the Ottoman Empire continued as a great european power, but a defeat would have been certainly decissive...

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)
