Sheeez the game just came out a few hours ago. Give it a rest! Can't people just enjoy the game now rather than worrying what the next version will be like...

I agree.

It's just a BIT early to be talking about civ4. Let's at least get civ3 patched and MPed first.

I've got three ideas I thought of when reading about Civ 3 from those who actually have it (lucky bastards.)

1) Improve the AI. From what I've heard, its pretty decent - but there's always room for improvement.

2) I know this will be difficult, but make the effects of the wonders fully editable. I.E, I can make a wonder called "Royal Road" that doubles the trade to all cities on the continent, even though there is no "official" wonder with this ability.

3) More realism. I know Civ 3 is pretty realistic, especially when considering the time scale, but it can be improved. For example, they could create a system of warfare where wars don't take 50 years to complete, even in the modern age.

LMAO

Hasn't even been released in most of the world, yet...

I'll start the list for Civ 5
1) Better AI, Civ4's AI had a few problems, please fix these.

2) A better balanced tech tree.

3) More varied terrain!

4) Fully customizable! (and I mean everything0

It's necessary to say to others they're dumbass?... Gheez...

I'd say it's a little premature. Let's first see what's about Civ III. Of course I have some ideas for this and that, but I tend to slow them, simply because it would be better to see Civ III and be able to enter them in relation of Civ III, since Civ III is gonna be much more different from Civ II than any other game of the same style. And it will affect many elements, very certainly on the good side.

Heh, guess I haven't changed my signature yet eh?

While I understand that indefinite =/ forever, I was expecting more of a respite than 3 hours. At least enough time to let the air of the Civ3 forum be rid of the stench of unjustified criticism.

But now that the game is out, criticise away!

Unfounded would have been a better word, forgive me.

Unless you have the game, you cannot comment on certain aspects of the game that are subjective, such as the AI, how ICS has been curbed, etc. All the information we've recieved up to now has been speculation, hearsay and rumour. Firaxis information releases are little better, usually containing such general and ambigous answers as to be worthless for a basis of criticism regarding the game. As we're going to see, reviews are also worthless for this type of criticism, since you can "only believe it when you see it."

However, commenting on objective elements of the game, things like missing features (MP, scenarios .), units, historical inaccuracies in civs, is acceptable if there is a valid source. You don't need the game to verify if a feature is missing, you just need an Infogames PR rep that has a spine to say a feature is missing. Unfortunatly, such a creature doesn't exist, so we end up relying on our comrades to see if these things are in or not after the game is released.

Anywho, just having some fun with ya Yin

Cool. Actually, 99% of my gripes have been about how we are treated to certain hype about MP (and scenarios) but not told the real deal. Of course there is no way to know about AI and gameplay without playing it more...

I agree about the hype, the "Advertise, then cut but don't confirm anything" style of promotion is becoming far too common nowadays.

No scenarios I can accept, we can do a better job then them most of the time. But lack of MP in a game released in the year 2001, tsk tsk tsk.

If my willpower weren't down to a nub from CivIII cravings, I'd boycott it.

What is it with Rod and the word dumb@$$?

Civ4 should be holographic, with an AI the equal to Deep Blue, and a limited edition tin made out of the bones of famous leaders, working MP at release (okay, that last one is a little far fetched).

Just play Civ3 for a few weeks first.

I have a suggestion. If they can't get this thing worked out themselves, leave others that want to try, alone.

Infogrames is incompetent at releasing and distributing.

If an archer can shoot down a stealth fighter, I will stay in the dark ages. I can't wait to see my hoplites crush those good for nothing tanks! PWAHAHAHA

I suppose you haven't even played Civ III yet?

You're right Drake. In an interview,
Sid said that spearing ideas for a new
sequel in the Civ series isn't his and
the teams intention. And I totally understand
him. It's wrong to do so. Think on all
the civ fans how disappointed they would
be.

LOL ... but give Darkcloud a break! He means well. It has certainly been fun being part of the game's creation process and reliving that at some stage would be fun too, whether it is too early for influencing the game or not.
