thanks for the hacked editor.
Although it would be a pain, is there any way you can make it so that the editor modifies the Civilopedia.txt and PedialIcons.txt files automatically.
For example, when you add a new unit thru the editor right now, you then have to open both of those text files and append alot of information in various places. it'd be great if the editor would do it automatically...save hours for everyone.

I downloaded your file to my zip drive where it now resides. It is neat. I need help with the following: How do I make it part of the regular Civ 3 edit program? Thanks in advance. |
After reading every post the question still stands. How do we use it?

Clearly, this functionality was needed during the creation of the game. However, we did not feel it received adequate testing to make it available in the released version of the game. In addition, in yesterday's chat I made mention of some graphical glitches that were discovered that make it difficult to modify some of the art and thus support for additional art was not implemented in the editor. Without the ability to add art, the ability to add units, for example, is pointless, so I disabled the feature temporarily. I did not, however, remove the functionality completely as I intend to fix these limitations. Be aware, though, that some of the items were never intended to have add/delete support and are only in there for development purposes. In other words, use these hacks at your own risk. |
Wouldn't it be possible to at least allow us to copy some of the existing files, ala Civ3CopyTool? I'd really like to add some specialist Workers to my game, ones with some of their automated abilities shut off, so they only perform one specific task.

What am I missing, do you know? Where can I 'find' these eleusive buttons?
From what I could tell, this would allow people to add units to pre-exsisting games, which is something I'd like. Perhaps not like this, but can somsone here give me a real quick explanation of what this mod does?

The units feature doesn't work well. For that you will need the Civ3CopyTool. Wonders are also a problem as the game will crash as soon as the splash screen graphics comes up. Again, Civ3CopyTool, which unfortunately doesn't work on my system. I can continue only because I'm using Norton Crashguard. Basic improvements work just fine though, as does the resources, though occasionally there may be a minor conflict. In my case, the game crashed after I added Sheep to my hills, but the problem cleared up when I changed my Gold to a luxury.

Is this utility ever going to get updated to use with 1.16?
Or can I use it as is?

I am currently having some sort of issue with my online space where the program will not download. I will be looking into this tonight to see what the issue might be. Sorry for any inconvenience. Try back in a couple of days.
Fixed, sort of, link on first message now works. Should be obvious what to do....

The hacked editor is completely Unnecessary.
All you need to do is:
1: Press "rename" followed by "cancel".
2: Now you press "a" to add or "d" to delete.
Very simple, and it actually works !

By the way: What does "randomize bonus grassland tiles", and the "seed" function do ?
I can't seem to understand the help-function on these subjects.

Randomize bonus grassland tiles:
If this is checked, Grassland tiles will randomly have an extra shield when placed. If unchecked, you must manually select Bonus Grassland to place if you want Grassland with an extra shield.
Seed:
The seed can be used to generate the exact same map again. When you generate a map, all calculations are based on a single seed number. If you generate another map with the same world setup and same seed, you will get the exact same map.
