	In tears with error!! Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

Ive been waiting fo rthis game for over a year! I finally get it on my birthday and it doesn't work!! here's what machine I'm on:
Compaq IpaQ, Pentium 3 533 mhz
no special video thingy's (you can tell I'm very computer savvy)

Ok, directx 8.0 and the game both install. I restart, and try to run the game. The Title screen shows up for about 15 seconds then disappears. About 5 seconds later an "Illegal Operation" error occurs, i clic "Yes" and I am back at the desktop. Infogrames troubleshooting has a FAQ problem like this one, but i tried all of their suggestions and nothing worked!!! I must play this game. IF my computer won't work, there's always a battlezone down the street...

i have an Intel Graphics Controller 82810. Already updated driver and sound drivers, but still, nothing happens.

Just as a guess, but head on over to www.gamecopyworld.com and download the fixed.exe patch for the game and see if it runs. It sort of sounds like Safedisc2 copy protection is preventing you from playing the game.

ok, i have the "executalble archive" downloaded, and put it in place of civilization3.exe (of course i backed it up). it doesn't work. If i double click the archive, it opens the "Open With" screen. What do i do?

Is the text in the main menu all screwy? Do you get that far?

	nope Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

dont get any menus, just the title screen, then error, everytime.

Can you provide a direct link to the file you're talking about, I can't find a Civ3 file on a search at gamecopyworld

Yup, the bottom line is unreadable but I'm able to go forward to the world parameter screen, when I hit the circle button after that it crashes.

(I have a 82810 card as well and am getting the same crash)

It is there. Just scroll down and you will find it under a bunch of new releases. Don't look in the game index because it isn't there yet.

Look under the banner "news---news---news". It is the third one down under releases for Novenber 1.

That is some kind of archive file, and not the executable at all.

I have no idea what kind it is.

Based on the link provided, looks it it is an .ACE archive. It's like a zip, just different. Do a search for WinAce, it's an archive program that can open them.
