But Dan, you were the ones who kept us informed about several peaks in a row! And you were the ones who could know when the servers would "blow up"! You know the capacity, you saw visitors continuously increasing, yet you did nothing but stare! | actually, we didnt know the capacity of the server, nor how much each decision would affect the situation
for example, today i turned off avatars for everyone. i didnt and couldnt know if it would make a small or a big difference. however it has made a difference and today we were able to not close the civ3 forums for the guests even though we made a new peak....

Just because you can't predict things scientifically is no reason not to plan
We have crossed the fine line from constructive criticisms, and even criticisms in themselves, to insinuations in my opinion and I will not debate or argue on these terms. Why? Because I do not feel that one can come to a mutual resolution under these conditions. If I come across as being a bit terse in my comments to follow it's not because I do not value input or that I wish to ignore it, but rather a combination of other factors. First, it's been a very stressful month thus far on matters not related to Apolyton and I won't go into details as we all have stresses and crosses to bear be they fair or unfair. Second, and more to the point, I am getting tired of having to defend myself and Apolyton's position over and over again when I, Markos or someone else on staff have already addressed it especially in recent days.
I never said that we did not have a plan -- I am certain I have made this clear before. We have always had a plan and we continue to have one now -- if we didn't, measures that we have implemented that have been spelled out in forum announcements, forum threads and the "About" section of our website would have either not surfaced or not surfaced as quickly as they did. What I am getting at is that no plan can attest for every possible contingency or to the extent to which a contingency may come into play. Now that we are aware of the present situation... and again, I am re-stating what I have said before here... we are working with the appropriate parties to try and address them.
