Game wont run *sob* Enter the AD-FREE zone

Right...I need help form all you techies....
I cant get the game running...well I can actually but for no good.
not making much sense ehh...
Game starts...and my monitor starts behaving oddly...Its like when you try a screen resolution your monitor doesn't support....Intro shows alright ...then I'm at what I belive to be the main menu (witch I cant see because my monitor behaves oddly again)...

I tried reinstalling the drivers for my grafix card.
I've tried editing the Civilization3.INI file(with KeepRes=1 (I'm running at 1024*768) ).
And it did not help...
Can you?

(I've included my systemspecs. if that's any help)

Cpu: AMD Athlon Tb 800MHz
Ram: 512 Mb (pc133)
Videocard: Asus V6600 (Geforce 256) (Newest Nvidia drivers)

Operating System: Win2k Prof.
Monitor:Hitachi 17mvx (Running on standart win2k drivers) Max. resolution 1152*864 @60Hz
