Wow, I just bought Civ 3 and I must say it is a huge improvement over Civ 2.
The diplomacy is simply stunning !!!!!!!
For once, a civilization game is challenging....
The thing that irked me the most about Civ 2 was the lousy diplomacy engine. It doesn't mimic well the back-stabbing that occurs in real life.
And for once civilizations are not generic! They are actually unique from one another! This is the part I love the most.
Anyways, great job Civ 3 development team!!!!

anothing I want to add is that I"m glad they took some good features from smac and added it to Civ 3 such as the mouse-drag destination feature. In Civ 2, I hated pressing the arrow keys every turn to make a unit travel great distances.
This feature alone is a HUGE improvement over Civ 2.
