City View Blues Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Ha!

Ok, I may be overstating this, as city view in Civ 3 is fantastic.

But as I'm scrolling through the pcx files, i find a lot of redundancy of the city view elements (like filler houses) between different cultures and also between difference time periods.

For example, one filler element might be the same for all the cultures, and it won't change in all four eras (ancient to modern)

My question is, why this redundancy? I had initially assumed it was a space issue that items in city view couldn't be more diverse (although i appreciate the attempt to customize graphic elements to each culture).

If Firaxis created a pcx file for each culture, why not create entirely new elements for each culture so that playing different cultures will yield a more diverse difference. the pcx files are taking up space anyways, and instead of duplicating the same element, it could have been redone for each culture.

Furthermore, a size 20 city only looks marginally bigger in city view than a size 2 city. I was hoping there would be more attempts to make bigger cities look more crowded as they grow.

Was this a time issue?
