	Avatar petition - sign a petition for geting the avatars back Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

Apparently the server load has lifted a bit, so I think
it could be the time for geting the avatars back on track.
I really mis them. They made it easier to find your own
posts, plus they brought some colour to the pages.
Not to mention that they give a visible virtual personality
to the ACS user.

So the idea with this petition is to get the avatars
back in the form they used to be. Yes, I know that
there's some people who would like to see changes
in the avatar policy, like changing that 500 post limit,
but that's not the important issue of this petition.
That's a matter that can be dicussed after the return
of the avatars.

How to sign the petition?

Just simply reply to this thread in a post where
you say that you want the avatars back and don't
forget to type your real name or your ACS nickname.

It would also help if you could mark your petition
signature by marking it with a post subject name,
like perhaps Petition signature or anything like that.

Example

Post subject on the post subject line:

Message body:

I want to have the avatars back to ACS Forums.

i know that it is a bit harder to find your last post and everything, but i don't want to have the forums shut down again or the OT locked or to have those annoying server busy messages. i leave it up to the admins to decide when to bring the avatars back. not that the decision lay anywhere else.

My $.02:I don't think Avatars should return until we can have them without causing any server problems. Forums sans avatars are better than avatars sans forums.

The server hasn't been busy for me since the avatars were removed. I've had no troubles posting, and the OT hasn't ben locked. Much as I like thm, removing them has cured the problem

and i don't see why it should. i'm sure mark will put the avatars back when and if he can. load times are much better now and the ot hasn't been closed so i'm not going to complain

Avatars don't seem to cost a lot of bandwidth. They don't change often, so once they are stored in the local cache it should be fine.

The speed is also important for me, but for the moment
things look so promising that I dare still to suggest
the return of the avatars.

Becides, they really give the ACSF a final touch, IMO.

Thank you for your input on the availability of avatars in the forums.

We are not looking at the possibility of re-introducing them at this time. This option will be considered on a later date.

By disabling the gnomes, Dan and Markos are

My custom avatar is really cool, but busy server messages are more uncool that that, so, no avatars if that solves the problem.
