Can you destroy own cities..? Get a bigger avatar today!

I would like to destroy (or remove) a city if it is no longer needed. Sometimes a city is in a bad area and It makes sense to remove it before it is captured.

Is this possible..?

Thanks!

Same here, (actually the reason why i registered was to ask that question!)

Currently i've just taken several cities owned by the americans by cultural influence (very nice feature btw :-) ) but they are situtated really close to where i want to build my new capital! It's espicially fustrating because the AI walked the settler which built the city across half of my empire, just to build that one city where i didn't want it to!

Anyway, if anyone knows how to destroy/abandon your cities, please post it!

Michael

How about building excessive amounts of workers and settlers...

The question was how to destroy unwanted cities.. Not how to build them up. If you don't know the answer please don't post.

Building workers and/or settlers CAN destroy a city since they each reduce population -- just reduce the population down to nothing (and make sure you aren't producing any excess food so turn all the city's population into scientists or whatever) -- or the poster who assimilated the cities could have just not taken the cities in the first place. . .

I have tried that. It will not complete the building of settlers or workers if their isn't enough population to subtract them from.

It's not a big deal I was just curious if it was possible. Thanks for the replies.

Regarding building settlers or workers in order to disband a city. . .

It's very odd. Sometimes this works and sometimes it will not.

Often, if a city of 1 or 2 tries to build the settler, it says: "Would you like to abandon **cityname**?" or "delay production" of the settler.

Other times, you'll have all the shields for the settler, and it just assumes you want to delay the settler and perserve the city.

I've sometimes gotten it to ask the "abandon city" question by switching the production item to a larger improvement for turn or two and then switching back to the settler, but this does not always work (and is wasteful).

Any ideas what causes this unpredictable behavior?

Best Regards,

Hurin

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

If a city is growing, you cannot disband it with settlers (or workers). You must first cut off its food supply (deselecting tiles in its city radius). If a city (size 1 or 2) isn't producing enough food, then u can disband it by building a worker or settler.
