taskbar on screen all the time Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Whenever I play the game the damn taskbar is always sitting one third up the screen. I have it set to autohide and yet it wants to stay there all through the game. This is a big fly in my soup. Anyone able to help?

Increase the size of your Attachments

You meant the taskbar is sitting in the middle of the screen or it occupied the bottom 1/3 of the screen?

What OS are you using?

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

It appears 1/3 of the way up the screen from the bottom and is smaller than normal. It does not go all the way across the screen, it just sits there except during video then it disappears until the game resumes and it reappears. I use win 98

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

First items to check: is your video card driver the most updated one? Are you using DirectX 8.0a?

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I have the solution for this.
I experienced the same at my friend's computer.

His graphic card was capable to run 1024 x 768 but he ran 800x600 though. Civ automaticly changes the resolution to 1024x768 if you're on 800x600 (or anything else) by default.\

That makes your taskbar come at 1/3 from the bottom of your screen and it stays there.
The solution is: (or the work around if you want to keep on using 800x600 for everything but for civ) change your screen resolution to 1024x768

You can do that by right-clicking the desktop (not on an icon) and select 'screen properties'
Go to the right tab, there's a place at the bottom where you can change the resolution. Change it to 1024 x 768

good luck.
