I have yet to see a SAM battery or coastal fort do anything. It is possible that I am missing something I guess. Has anyone seen them work?

I saw my coastal batteries get blown up by an ironclad bombardment. So I guess they served a purpose of taking one for the team and saving my temple!

Good point! My coastal batteries got knocked out by an ironclad too, after it sank my battleship!!!!! Don't ironclads sink in high seas dammit!!!! Should have to remain near the coast IMO.

Well, you see. this ironclad had a magic fairy named Rand. And he cast a magic spell on you, the spell of Om. And then, because of the mystical winds of magic, along the dual octorinal currents of Se and Ed, your battleships sunk to the bottom of the sea.

Logically, an ironclad should, if both have the same number of hitpoints, sink a battleship 1/3 of the time. 4 attack, to 8 defense. Ironclad has a 33% chance to hit, battelships has a 66% chance to defend.
You know what the worst part of all these damn combat results is?
Its that they make sense. But that doesn't mean we don't hate them any less.
BRING BACK FIREPOWER.
