Unit Limit? Got spare money?

I know there is a city limit of 255 cities in the game. Is there also a unit limit? I have not yet come across it, but it would be interesting to know.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

If I remember my failure with MGE to get rid of the limit, it was 1948 for a single civ and 2048 for all civs combined. I managed to get to 2050 and then the game crashed. Success indeed !
