And for the LOVE OF GOD PUT IT BACK INTO CIV!!! These are minutes of my life I don't get back watching minutes of pointless AI movement in all of their (average) animated glory...

Remove this text

Just turn off, animate friend and enemy moves. You can also turn off your own, auto or manual moves.

yeah, it's a matter of time before the first FPS game appears in which you don't have to shoot your enemies anymore.

I did that.... and I noticed absolutely no difference in the game.... does that function work? If so, what does it do?

As others gave noticed, doing all that crap is NOT the same as fast piece slide. Check Civ2 for some SERIOUS fast AI turns! Almost too fast on those fast piece moves...
