Was this discussed before? Always zoom out (press 'z') before ending your turn. First make sure your turn doesn't end automatically, see preferences (ctrl-p).
It'll make those oh-so-annoying units running in circle more bearable.

But if I zoom out for the end-of-turn festivities I won't be able to see the already tiny "city in civil disorder" alert go zipping by--will I?
Forgive the question. I'm at work so I don't have the game in front of me to check it for myself.

actually it is more readable. The message is not scaled with the zoom. In other words, it actually appears larger above said city, but the city name in smaller. However, with the speed at which my computer resoves the turns, even zoomed in, all I know is that a city is in disorder, but not which one.
