quote: Wiglaf, it is amazing how steadfastly you can ignore one crucial point - There are 6000 British soldiers ready to assist Americans in Afghanistan, but Americans don't want to use them. There are British SAS troops, searching for Bin Laden even now. Then again, you are such an obvious troll, it makes sense you'd ignore anything that could interfere with your trolling. |
BS
I've seen Bush AT THE U.N. demanding more action from allies on all fronts. What I haven't seen is Blair ANYWHERE making noise, asking to send troops in to respond for the 'attack on the UK and the world', or offering any politically dangerous but morally responsible help.
Why? Because the people in the UK and Canada don't want war. It makes them cry, or something, I dunno. In any event, it's all political. And that's what's so disgusting.

Ted striker , tell me what Wiglaf has posted that is wrong? Making us look bad, since when have Americans cared about what the pansy left wing Eurocoms think? We are independent.

I honestly can't believe this thread.
This thread, especially Wiglaf, shows everyone exactly what is wrong with the world. Bush has turned down help from so many countries, and now Americans are bemoaning the fact that they aren't getting any assistance!
Maybe we just don't want to participate in any fruther actions of such a blatantly intolerant and evil country as the USA. |
I actually think it was the duty of all the countries of the World to stand beside the US for the attack on the WTC and support them, I am also happy to see the Taliban kicked out of power as a result...
What does still need to be addressed are the US policies that caused it to be attacked on Sept 11 and the already concerning 'noises' from the Bush camp that once the Taliban have been militarily defeated in Kandahar and (if) OBL is captured they're going to immediately pack up and take the 1st ship/plane back to the US...
That would be the major crime - it is also something that the UK and the ROW is desperate to stop from happening!
The whole mess of the last couple of decades in Afghanistan has been caused in no small measure by the US in the first place by the CIA first supporting, training and equipping the Mujahideen and then the Islamic fanatics - OBL was created by the US!
Once they'd done their grisly job they left Afghanistan high and dry as a dangerously unstable vacuum - which is in part why Pakistan felt so betrayed by them and acted to create and support the Taliban in order to at least have some kind of control and stability over the anarchy on the other side of a notoriously porous northern frontier.
If the US leaves with seeing it through until the end, Afghanistan will slip back into the same anarchy of the early nineties as the Northern Alliance slowly tears itself apart and new Pashtun Warlords begin to emerge! We're already seeing the signs with the negotiations at Bonn - someone really needs to tell Burhanuddin that he's only President in name...
The UK doesn't want to see this happen, we're in it for the long haul but I seriously doubt we can do it without the US and we are fast losing the opportunity to peacefully insert our troops into NA held areas... We should have had our troops on the ground before the recent sudden successes of the NA! We have to remember that they are little better than the Taliban and therefore IMO cannot be trusted to peacefully accept a solution which would mean an almost total loss of their power...
If we go home without encouraging a truly democratic all-party government into power, we will have failed and the deaths of Sept 11 will have been for nothing!
It is ironic that the longer OBL stays on the run, the more likely we'll approach a peaceful resolution for the government of Afghanistan as the US task force will be forced to stay in place until that time - because if those ships leave the Arabian Sea, they won't be coming back and if I were a disgruntled warlord I'd be biding my time for just such a moment!

You seriously belive that? That is the biggest ****ing joke I think I've ever heard in my life. Did some English kid beat you up at school or something?
quote: They haven't helped in Afghanistan |
Did you not READ everything that's been printed above? 6000 BRITISH troops landed in Afghanistan. SAS has already been there, gathering intel and spotting targets. A freakin carrier group is in the area, AWAITING THE GO FROM THE US. WE HAVE NOT GIVEN THEM the go. British have given us full access to all of their bases, along with logisitical, intel, and refueling support.
quote: What I haven't seen is Blair ANYWHERE making noise, asking to send troops in to respond for the 'attack on the UK and the world', or offering any politically dangerous but morally responsible help. |
I guess that must have been Blair's body double talking with the leaders of both India and Pakistan and calming them down.
quote: we ask them for help and all we get are a bunch of useless promises and a couple free missiles. |
Hey idiot, THEY GAVE us help before we even ASKED them. They have also done EVERYTHING we have asked them to. They are ready TO DO MORE.
And that political stuff you readily dismiss is a HUGE support. You really have no clue, do you?
How old are you Wiglaf? 13?
That's what I thought.
GAME SET MATCH.

Okay Brain Trust, what exactly do YOU want the Brits to do that they haven't done already?
Tell me Mr. President?
I will destroy your points in a second... |
I want Blair to contact Bush and make a lot of noise about support for British troops in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan to back the Americans already there. I want constant air attacks from Canada, the Aussies, and of course Britain. It's ridiculous for our fighters and pilots and CIA agents to be the only ones doing the work.
I want all the countries that pledged support to be on the front lines. Combined, although obviously our forces are 10x better equipped and trained, the strength of the coalition will increase. Exactly how much is hard to tell at this point.
So, basically, I want more than "Oh, we're sorry about that, America. But our people don't want war. Don't feel bad though, I called some of the leaders down there and shot off a cruise missile. Really, this is an attack on us too."
Pathetic.

Talking out your arse again? What do you think the SAS or MI6 have been doing, for example? They are there, just somewhat more discretely than your lads. But you seem quite capable of performing it yourself, we loan you air bases and the like without any problem

Erm, dumb sh*t, they are! The aim is not to invade Afghanistan with brute force but to perform specific missions. You seem to have missed the point.

Hmmm, did you actually see any of the news following September 11th? Pledges of support and assistance, all followed up on by those nations but not necessarily required in the end. And I don't know what you are waffling on about in the second part.

Oh, that's right, PH. Your guys are down there. But because they're so very well hidden, no one knows.

Blair claimed 9/11 was an attack on his country as well. We all know, of course, that was a complete and total lie to Americans everywhere. That's what I was 'waffling' on about, whatever the hell that means.

Oh come on, it is known that the SAS is in there, along with the SBS. As for MI6, that follows.

Go back to the news and check again how many British nationals died in the WTC
Again, demonstrating your complete ignorance on the matter...
