Communism failing, Elections unsure
Mass unemployment, Rampant Corruption, burdening public debts, and huge military costs are undermining the dreams of Comrades Marx and Engels.
Therefor, Saddam took action to Cut military spending and put more into infrastructure devolopment and Social Spending. Building long neglected, are being put up. After the war, he expierenced record high aproval ratings. But that has gone away, as domestic problems once again are the talk of the factory floors and taxi drivers.
The cost is huge, and it is doubtful it will be enough to quell the dissenting voices within the nation. One of those voices is Fadent Glory, a Roman bye ancestor. But a Chinese citizen and growing influence in the nations politics. Two "Unfortunate" accidents in past few months (botched carbombs) have seen his popularity soar. And he leads in the polls bye a margin of 2/1 over Saddam.
Elections in the 10 year increments are being held. As massive protests have broke out in 8 cities last season. Saddam relented, and the elections come forth. It is unclear what may happen in the elections in the coming months. Fadent, a moderate Communist; was angered bye the Chinese invasions of Scotland and attacks on Jamacia, saying they were acts of "Treachory and are deciet". He also believes some Scottish cities should be given back in a peace deal.
With state surplus rapidly falling bye the dozens each season, it is likely Saddam will lose the election. But will he try to hold on bye force?

Turn to Swissy.
Also here in Rome, our communist government has trouble.
Though here, we (read I) are able to control to public unrest, due to the facts, that we nearly have finished some brandnew hospitals, a new recyckling plant - and best of all:
Our tests with a new technology, called SDI is a success. For now, 2 cities are protected and more to follow shortly. This protection make our public safe and ready to make more, than one could expect a hardworking nation to take.
Well, maybe it also helps, that some of the oldest dangerous mines are replaced by supermodern mines, equipped with all the newest toys, engineers and workers can think of.
Also, new universities have been builded. My problem here is, that either I have to give up a little power to those young academics or face serious trouble very soon.
They talk about coorporation. For a republic.... What should be next?!
