	Bridges Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

According to the Civ-pedia the discovery of engineering leads to "{New Ability} Roads now bridge rivers".

What does this imply? That prior to engineering your units and roads should not be able to cross rivers? I'm not seeing that occur if that is the case: my units and roads constantly cross rivers.

Can someone clarify this "new ability" for me? I'm playing with the latest version.

prior to engineering you can still build roads across rivers, but when you try to move a unit from one shore to the other it will not use up 1/3 of a move, but rather the amount it would have used had there been no road at all.

(in layman's terms: after engineering there are bridges, before that you have to wade thru teh water )
