Golden Ages Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Does anyone know what causes Golden Ages for each civilization? I know the Great Wall gives one to China, but other than that it's all a shot in the dark for me. I hope someone has a list or something!
Any help would be appreciated!

It's dependent on the civ and it's supposed to be a chance depending on their UU or a specific building relating to their abilities.... just like the GreatWall and China....

Aztecs seem to always get a Golden Age within a few turns.... basically as soon as a Jaguar Warrior has a victory.

If its a religious civ then a religiousy type wonder will probably kick them off... something like the Sistine Chapel... if it's a military civ then a military wonder like Tsu's.....

Hope this helps

Well, basically there are two ways to get a Golden Age(GA):
1. When your civ-specific unit is victorious there is a chance of getting a GA. For example - When Russian specific unit Cossack wins a fight there is chance for Russia to get the GA
2. When your civ builds 2 Wonders satisfying its specific abilities:
i.e. suppose you are playing for Germans - militaristic and scientific civ. To get GA you must build one Militaristic and one Scientific Wonder - say, Sun Tzu's AND Newton University.
for lists of civ-specifics see Civilopedia.
Civilopedia entries describing wonders also contain info on what kind of civ may get a GA from building that Wonder

Increases trade for all squares already gen some and adds one shield if there is already one present

If you play the Greeks build the Great Library (science) and Colossus (commercial) = Golden Age

Thanks for the input! If we could figure out what exactly causes them for each Civ, then hopefully we could use it as a strategy. I think it is a total waste to get them in the ancient era. If you could plan them by avoiding certain early wonders or special unit victories, then you theoretically could stave them off until the industrial or modern eras where it would almost certainly seal up the game for you.

So far:

Greeks: Great Library and Colossus = GA
Russia: Cossak victory = GA
Germans: Sun Tzu and Newton's U = GA
Aztecs: Jaguar Warrior victory = GA
China: Great Wall = GA

Keep 'em coming! Thanks!

Basically if something increases shields, its industrial; trade, commercial; enhances military (ex Sun Tzu) it's militaristic (no brainer there I guess)

Just try and link the effect to a civ type and matching each will cause a GA
