Information on Italy or Prom comes to the rescue ;) Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

The situation is as follows: In a geopolitical game I play on other forums (long story) I'm taking over Italy, which means I need to control Italy. I've read a bit, but I tend to place more reliance on first hand information than on anything on the net.

Any information is welcome, consider these issues guiding questions, because Ï need info mainly on what the papers don't publish, the kind of info on the population and such that don't appear on the net.

Sorry to bother you with this, and thanks in advance for any help you can lend me.

Insofar as to what I know, the conservatives dominate the political arena. I am not too familiar with the current relations between parties and that yet so any info is appreciated.

As to the economy, I'd like to know what the government has been aiming at doing about it, if it's doing well or not. Any info about how the transicion into the Euro is affecting the country and populace is welcome.

Also, any problems that the common populace may have, or complaints. Social issues are appreciated.

On another hand:

1) How effective were the mani pulites of 1992 and how did they affect Italian politics? (if you happen to remember anything or have read anything)
2) What is the current view in Italy with regards to nuclear power.
3) Is there an issue with illegal immigration and where from? Any sources I found with regards to this were very obscure... I'm guessing Albania, Greece and Croatia... Maybe even Libya.

Thanks again man.

Sure !!! But... Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Infos you're asking for are a lot coplicated to explain in brief terms - time is moving out quickly and i've to go to work in an half hour.

1) As a matter of facts, the "Mani pulite" affair simply wiped out the old parties ( Christian Democracy, Socialist Party, and even Communist Party partially ), and determined the growth of new or minor parties as big political subject ( Forza Italia, Alleanza Nazionale ). Economically, they determined a crisis in big public projects making, mainly by reinforcing controls over bureaucracy and societies' balances

2) Nuclear was banned from Italy with a public "referendum" over ten years ago. No more plants or plans to restore it. As a NATO member, we must host them - nuclear weapons, i mean - if requested.

3) Sure, but they are named Sacra Corona Unita, 'Ndrangheta, Camorra and Mafia. I've serious doubt you'll find their infos on the net... kidding I'll try to search something more on the net from my workstation.

See you this evening, Prom

Si, the people in Milan are very upset about those neanderthals from Napoli moving north!

My sister lived for several years in Vicenza and Firenze. She says people tended to be sour toward the Albanians and any Africans immigrating to Italy. Or do you want to know about the government's stance?
