Help please someone after patch.had to unistall now will not re.install? Got spare money?

OK I tried to do too much at one tíme after havíng won my first game..I thought i would pretty up things by adding snoopys landacape mods and the new Goodies huts and barbarians camps from the files forums.
The new landscapes looked great but I could not see any goodies hut or barbarians camps..but I kept tripping over them in what appeared to be a plain lanscape area..middle of desert nothing in sight sudden message "the XY tribe has given you a new warrior" or "your worker has been killed by a barbarian" when he tripped over their camp.
I thought it best to uninstall and reinstall and repatch.
Then to try one graphic mod at a time .
I used the uninstall from control panel and it did its thing but after many attempts is still showing in the control panel as beíng there?
I used explorer to try and install using the set up and it just initiates uininstall and wil not re-install the game.
So someting is in my registry somewhere thinks that CIV 3 is still installed but I have even gone into file manager and cleared every sign of it..but I cannot reinstall it..What next other than either forget CIV 3 or reformat??

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

The key in the registry that the install puts is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Infogrames Interactive/Civilization III. If you delete that it should take care of any reg checks the install is making.

Increase the size of your Attachments

If that doesn't work you can try to delete the %PROGRAMFILES%\InstallShield Installation Information\{0AD84416-63A4-4CF3-BDDF-8FA866711FB0} directory.

%PROGRAMFILES% is the directory of which most programs suggest to install to. In English versions of Windows this is C:\Program Files

Still no joy? Got spare money?

Thanks for the try I found the Key and removed it using REGedit.
I could not find the file which King of Sweden refers to.
When I insert CD ROM I get the normal install/register screen as for a new CDRM but when I click install it says "do you want to remove this program?" I say yes and that is all it does no reinstall or install option.
By the way I have Win98 I have that on my C drive I did not use the default C drive location as but the D drive as there is more empty drive there-
Here is the rest of my system info:

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

The "InstallShield Installation Information"-directory is hidden.

You can try to search for a setup.ini that contains the text
AppName=Civilization III
Then open its parent directory and go up one level. (Remember the name of the directory you are in. (should be {0AD84416-63A4-4CF3-BDDF-8FA866711FB0}))

tack så mycket men det hjälpä inte Suffering from ads?

Back to English..Yep found it deleted it same problem still.
I thought perhaps my CDROM drive or even Win98 was to blame so I deleted a couple of other games and they re-installed OK.
I thought direct x might be to blame.."if in doubt blame Gates!"
But MS Train sim need DX8 and that runs fine.
I will now lend my CDROM to a friend and see if he can install it.
He has not bought CIV3 yet so if it works he can have it I only bought this as a present so I just have to buy the kids something else. At least I had some fun playing it once to victory and meet sme great people in this forum.
Problem started when I played with Snoopys graphic mod kits it made the goodies huts and the barbarians huts invisible.
I uninstalled and tried to reinstall.
I suspect now that my CDROM may be faulty/damaged when I tried my first attempt at reinstall it tried then crashed to blue screen at 75% with message CDROM is missing etc. Since then it does not even try. Close examination of CDROM shows a scratch which murphy has probably placed over a vital track.
..I have kept the patch safe backed up in another directory. But I used control panel (CP) to delete the patch and CIV111 but although it removed the patch from the CIV3 dir CIV 3 itself still shows in CP. I have tried many times it will not go away.
Now "she who must be obeyed" says I have to take her Christmas shopping.
Happy Christmas and thanks again for trying.

[Firaxis Mode]

Dear Consumer,

We hope you are enjoying the revolutionary Civ3. We have spent a great deal of our time, well ... a coffee break ... developing a system in which you can create the Civ3 experience that is right for *YOU*.

Using our patented Editor, you can fiddle about with all sorts of useless numbers that have a gloriously superficial effect upon the game. We hope, by providing you with a gazillion tabs and options, you will be bamboozled into not noticing how ridgid this structure is

Ofcourse, the game is fully customizable.

>> Disclaimer: Please do not combine your customizations with anyone elses, customize twice, expect the game to work properly after customization, mix graphics, change graphics, alter the color of anything, alter any text, change values to anything too small or large (actual figures determined at runtime), edit anything and then try to get it back to how it was, expect your modfications to work with our forthcoming patented patches, expect our forthcoming patented patches to work with your mods or expect your mods to work with our mods. If we release any.
