Ok, I think i just discovered a major bug with this game, post patch... Here's the scoop:
I'm at war with the germans, made peace, dang war weariness. I was looking for a good reason to go to war with them again, in the previous war i had destroyed many roads and damanged many costal towns with my navy. Unfortuneatly persia was supplying germany with saltpeter and coal making things difficult. War weariness was rampant and i was forced to make peace, got a nice amount of gold from it though. Anyways, after about 10 turns of peace, the germans somehow attacked my buddies the americans who i had a mpp with. Bam, i'm back at war. I move my 3 carriers, 6 bb's and 12 destroyers across over into the german seas. I arm my bomber and procede to take out the remaining roads around the german capital...
Here's the problem/bug:
remember that i said persia was trading with the germans, well as soon as i took out that last road, the trading was forced to stop. Persia declared war on the germans, and a message box popped up from windows stating an illegal error had occured... I reloaded the game, bombed the road again and same thing... We have a major game breaking bug here...
I could go play the game and leave the roads intact, but that means the germans can build ironclads and calvalry. If strategic resources are there i want to use em to my advantage and that means stopping that trade route. This is a major bug and needs to be fixed.

1. Send the save game to Firaxis since it's a reproducible crash. Be sure to include the exact order of moves you make to cause the crash.
2. Unfortunately, this sort of stuff has been going on with the code for Civ games since I've been playing them. I fondly remember the lan games where we'd spend 20 rebooting until we figured out which move by which unit was taking down the game. There's so many possible ways a turn can be resolved there are just sometimes are combos that aren't handled and, poof, no more game.
You might possibly be able to get around it by waiting until a different turn to take out the roads or even bombing with a different plane. I've seen all kinds of weirdness with Civ game code.

Dude this isn't all the big deal you make it out to be, especially since no one else is experiencing it. I've had similar issues, and I just do things differently, and if doesn't fix it, I look at my score, if I'm winning I'm content to say I won that game and just start a new one.
But you can go to Firaxis.com go to the support section and they walk you thru how to send them a trouble ticket about your problem.
