What I have learned from civ3-for moo3 Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Since Infrocrack is releasing it I will not purchase Moo3 until the following happen:

It is released. None of this premail-order crap

It has gone through beta testing (it was obvious civ3 didnt) even if this means that the public beta test it, i will wait.

It has been patched when errors are found and reported by the great people on this board

It has multiplayer (civ3 was suppose to but they left it out)

It doesnt cause computers to crash with WinXP (the first civ3 patch did cause my winxp to crash)

The phrase "sup" is permantly stricten from the english language and ebonics is wiped off the face of the earth. (just kidding)

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tired of ads?

I'm eagerly awaiting MOO3 and I'll purchase it no matter anything! This is why...the hype about it being revolutionary seems to be completely genuine. So genuine and so confidant are the designers (and MOO3 people in general) that they are sharing with us just about every intricacy in the game (and MOO3 has many many intricacies!).

There was nothing revolutionary about CIV3, but it had the little things that make it very fun to play. MOO3, on the other hand, I'm sure will have (in addition to the little features that make games fun to play) the big and revolutionary features that we have seen explained in the forums and in the wonderful data dumps. I'm betting that CIV3 will turn out to be no more than a tenth of what MOO3 will be, and in effect, I'll probably never play it again after MOO3's release.

"You can do anything, but you can't do everything"...I love it!!!!

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Though both Civ 3 and MoO 3 are published by infogames, they are only published by the same company, and considering that it is not being rushed to hit a specific market, i'll trust it to be less buggy. That being said, i too will wait until it has been publically tested.

My major concern is that MOO3 will be too "revolutionary" for its own good (CtP anyone?). They try to change everything, so they don't do anything right. IFP systems, HFOG and the mind-numbing mass of information and data that you need to keep in mind just to build things may not produce the best game - even if it produces the designers' dream. Furthermore, if testing reveals that these features really aren't that great for gameplay, I seriously doubt that anything will be changed. Better to push it out the door and rely on hype than to go back and spend a month or two changing everything.

A game that plays itself?

I'll read a few reviews before I buy MOO3. CivIII proved you can never be too careful.

QS is working on this one.

Contrary to public scorn, Civ3 did have a fair amount of beta testing. It wasn't public, nor even invitation only, but based on the lack of actual bugs (scads of balancing issues though), I'd say it was pretty well done. What QS plans to do with Moo3's beta is yet to be determined.

I'd downgrade the importance of this board on bugs for Moo3. They do have their own forums after all.

quote:

QS has you covered. Moo3 is built with its multiplayer, and (baring something zany) will ship with it.

quote:
It doesnt cause computers to crash with WinXP (the first civ3 patch did cause my winxp to crash)

Hmm, that sounds like a conflict on your end...hopefully with XP being out longer QS will nail any crash bugs. But don't forget that testing can never cover every conceivable combination of hardware/software.

This would fall under 'cheeze' anyways, and would die at the hand of Rantz rather quickly.

I'll still be dropping by regularly, so far as I know. I think Sencho was commenting on the fact that it's easier for us to gather any bug information on the Delphi board.

You really think so? I mean, this is a smaller forum, with less rants and less spam...

Well, at least on the MOO 3 forum... for now.

I'll probably wait myself.

One thing I have to ask is will there be a pre-release demo? That would allow me to test it hands on. If not, I'll be at the whims of the reviews.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

I've got no reason to believe that MOO3 won't be fantastic.

Then again, I also like Civ III. It's turn-based. It's entertaining. It's not as overly repetitive as Civ II was. All of the terrain in Civ III is worth something.

Actually, I hope that's something they fix in MOO3. Seemingly bad places to put colonies on and develop should be capable of having redeeming features (besides physical location) that make me want to build there. The resources in Civ III fixed that problem. I hope you have something similar planned for MOO3.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

No demo is planned at this point, and it's unlikely to change.

Any place can have good (or bad) features. And a planet that's terrible for you might be paradise for another race; the old "everyone thinks Gaia is the same thing" syndrome is gone in MOO3. Multiracial empires take on a new significance.

I'm using IE too and the delphi boards have been problematic for the last few days. Usually it's a reliable, albeit minimalistic, forum.
