1. The Colossus can help trigger a golden age for a Commercial civ. The Civilopedia is either incomplete or in error, by saying that the Colossus does this for just Expansionist and/or Religious civs.
2. The Great Library MAY grant advances for techs appearing AFTER Education in the tech tree. This is because the GL will not give you techs shared by civs you have not made contact with yet. So, if you have not yet contacted the most advanced civs after building the GL, they may discover techs beyond Education before sharing Education through the GL. Subsequent contact with more advanced civs gives you Education AND all shared techs after it. In one game, I got Astronomy, Banking, Democracy, Economics and Navigation by delaying contact until the slower AI had learned and shared Theology. Not bad!
