Tired of ads?

You can try Smiles, our most prominent local brew, or there's stuff much more evil than that - some W Country beer borders on the Satanic...

As for good clubs - in my world-view, all clubs are bad, so you better ask Laz...

Indians - there's a whole street of them opposite where I live, all perfectly tolerable, though arguably none of them wonderful (not after you've been to the ones in Brum).

Well 'vicious chicken of Bristol', you'd better be careful, you don't want to end up as Chicken Karai

Yeah, we need a good alternative club. Does Bristol have any? Let us check!

Nah, just late. Although the kids may want to go home early

I dunno, it is just an idea. Perhaps the club will be a bit too late, we'll just have to settle for the curry (YES! A curry, David has to taste this fundamental pillar of British cuisine )

Well perhaps we won't all be doing the clubbing option, besides for us it depends on the trains back to Reading from Bristol. And besides, I have had a look and there don't seem to be any decent clubs in Bristol. There was one weird one with oompa bands on

Got spare money?

There's no shortage of eating places in the immediate vicinity of the pub in question. It's just off Park Street which is heaving with cosmopolitan eateries, including a couple of decent curry houses. I can't personally vouch for any (in recent years, at least) but they look smart enough. There are more just up the road in Clifton Village, including the excellent Village Balti. So take your pick of the world's cuisine, basically.

For non-ethnic eats I'd recommend Brown's, which is bang opposite the pub we'll be in. It's not the cheapest in the world, but about £7 gets you a good meal including the best steak sandwich I've ever eaten.

Clubs? It's been a while since I've been in one (kids...) but I'd head straight for the Bierkellar or the Thekla. The clubs on Park Street are a bit too pop ponce for my liking.

No. It's just full of men in white T-shirts with finely gym-toned physiques and bottle-blonde hair making lots of eye-contact with each other and singing along to Donna Summer records.

Not really, but presumably they all have women and alcohol - a very nice mixture
