	Canīt start the game!!!!!! Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Hi, I wanted to start playing Civ3 but I canīt even start the game.
After the Intro my monitor dies showing some refresh rate numbers on the screen. I have to hard-restart the computer to get back to windows. Have anyone had this problem?
I am running on a PIII 500 with Win XP pro and a Viper 550 AGP card.

I had the same problem for a while when I first installed civ3. I turned out that the driver for my monitor was either the wrong one or out of date for the game. Don't know if this is your problem, but this is what I would try.

it sounds like the known issue which is in the readme concerning refresh rates and WinXP. If not, do a search for that, cause someone has fix for it. Or just try setting your monitor to 60hz manually.
