You're welcome Franky.
Kassiopeia and Silence (who should write the post), here's what I was thinking of. The raid is not to cut the defenders off Callisto, as we believe we can hold for a while, it is to test if it can be done at all, and whether Callisto can be reinforced. Though several smaller Soldiers of God ships are destroyed (about five or six), the two heavy cruisers (the Soldier of God cruiser and the Morganite heavy cruiser) will be able to be used quite effectively against a section of the Terran fleet, and hey! If you Soldiers of God do this thing well enough, we'll buy more ships from you to put in against the Terran fleet in order to either cut our boys out or let more in!
Silence, you may post as soon as Kassiopeia has made his post regarding the Saturn Kingdom (Yeah! Hear that Tremaine?).
Welcome back, General. We look forward to your posts. And hey! Morgan is a big fan of Ancient Greece, and yeah, Sparta was much much better than Athens!!

Kass:
150 ships Battlesquadron??? isn't that over kill? we did say that Sol as alot of ships, but not as many as you indicate for the Coalition Navy, like woaaa.... That is not a Squadron, that is a Fleet of ships kass :P Squadrons is like 10 to 25 Capital Ships....
anyway, the TAF organizes its Fleets into Task Forces.... Each Task Force as about 30-50 Terran Battlecruisers and 5-20 Terran Carriers (Battlestar Galactica ship, with BC engines and Hangar Bay under the ship like in Homeworld Kush Carrier) a long with Support/Escort Ships like Missile Frigates, Corvettes, Destroyers, and Cruisers...a long with some Corvettes and Scouts as Pickets....
In the jupiter area, before a TAF Task Force from Pluto arrived, there was a Squadron of Battlecruisers.... and there is a Squadron of Battlecruisers in the Saturn Area...until sending another Task Force in that area for Peacekeeping....and to prevent Coalition ships being stupid concerning Titan Independence. need to do a TAF fleet structure.......
Anyway, not to many ships!!! each BC carries 2 Squadrons of 15 Starfuries/Thunderbolts... so 30 Fighters in total.... and the Carriers carry 10 Squadrons of Starfuries/Thunderbolts..... Thunderbolts are the the Atmospheric version of Starfuries just to say, as well as used as Fighter Bombers....
Silence:
It depends as how a faction operates their fleets..... but i know the TAF uses Task Forces... and each Task Force is one big ship unit..... they will treat their Task Forces like people will do in Master of Orion 3....... each Task Force as Core (usually Capital Ships, the Heavy Hitters or ships the Task Force is escorting like Transports and so on), Support/Escort/Screening (ships that either support or escort the Core ships...from Offensive [additonal firepower or whatever] to Defensive [screening like the little ships takes the hits instead of the big ships or help with anti-fighter/missile/torpedoes]) Starfighters usually help in Support/Escort duties... or personal Support/Escort of a Capital ship.... then there is the Pickets.... the Eyes and Ears of Task Forces...the early warnings and so on... Recon Probes are usually use in such duties as well by Battlecruisers and Carriers.
as for the rest, they may use the same style of Fleet combat or use something different, it depends........... but in Task Forces, ships are able to help each other and having a Variety of ships in a Task Force makes it stronger.
Generally to All:
Bioarmour..... Scions uses Biometal, base on biometal that was found all over the Sol system, and they themselves are humans merge to Biometal.... so they have natural ligh Biometal Armour :P Biometal looks like metal, but with a slight organic sleak to it you can say... and Scion ships and ground forces look very alive too.... but they are not Organic Armour, just Biometal.... Scions still don't understand how to create biometal from Scratch, but they have learned to Reproduce the stuff :P And currently, without serious knowledge of other TA members, TAF made a business deal with the Scions.... they don't reveal how to make Biometal, but they do help Contruct Biometal Ground Units for the TAF Marine Corp at Pluto..... Anyway, TAF Ground forces is made of Biometal, as well as Marine Power Armor (Starcraft Marine Power Armour made out of Biometal)..... some of the ground forces are base on the old ISDF designs which the Scions still as the design specs of from the ancient and secret Scion War of the 1990s.... so the TAF ground units is a mix of ISDF from Battlezone 2 and terran Starcraft units
Of course, you mean Organic Armour right? so be careful not to confuse Bioarmour and Organic Armour may sound the same, but don't want any confusion with Biometal already being used by the Scions.... and the Gaians are into trying to make Organic ships too..... Maybe Titan could try to contact the quiet and keep to themselves Scions about some technology deal....ut Scions is not willing to share their technology, despite what the Terran Council or the TAF says..... well, they did, but with some of their lower techs to help design and build the Terran Battlecruisers and Carriers.... which EC and MC in turn started using those low techs for their ships ...which the Scions knew would happen...and who still don't trust the rest of humanity....
now, as for weapon technology:
TAF mainly use Pulse Cannons technology as their main beam weaponry..... lower tech then Chaos/Disruptors of the Chironians, but more advance then the basic Laser and Projectile weapons.... TAF also added two heavy Ion Beam Cannons to their Battlecruisers in the last 5-10 years...as the main anti-capital ship weapons, which suck up a lot of power and take up a lot of room.... but BCs could take it, just rate of fire is like one shot per cannon per minute.... Ion Beams and very large Laser Cannons are the only beams that can pierce through an atmosphere.....but not capable pierce the tectonic plate of planets.... and then TAF also uses Merculite missiles....slightly more powerful then Fusion Missiles/Torpedoes ment mainly
as anti-ship weapons.
simple weapon tech wise....from inferior to superior in tech....
Projectile (machine guns, cannons, autocannons)
|
Laser
|
Impact/Gauss
|
Pulse Cannons Plasma Cannons (where to put this...)
|
Chaos/Disruptor
|
Particle Cannons
|
and so on.............
something like that...
okay, i am lost... will end this post

Okay, I'll downsize the amount of Battle Squadrons total in the Navy.
Do note that I just want to use the word "Battle Squadron" to indicate the larges group of capital ships. "Battle Fleet" sounds so... passé...
So the unit is still Battle Squadron, and has 150 cap ships, but there aren't that much in total in the Coalition Space Navy altogether? I still think sending 300 ships to Titan seems realistic.
The proportion of the attack increases a ten-fold.
OK; how about this. A Battle Squadron is 150 cap ships. A Combat Squadron is something like 25 ships, OK? And I'll cut the total number of ships to some, 70 Battle Squadrons, from the 300 I used before? OK?
And I'll use the term "Biotechnological Armour" in my post. They are not quite sure of what it exactly is, so they'll call it that. It can be Organic Armour officially for all I care.

Okay, there seem to be different types of armor... for ground units to ships..... here is a quick list of armours mentioned so far and to who is using it....
Nano Armour: Protectorate
Organic Armour: Gaians
Biometal Armour: Scions,
Titatium Armour
neo-Tritanium Armour: TAF,
Admantium Armour

Oh my God! 300 ships for two measly moons???
He he he! At least Flame of Odin is down! Only 299 more to go... Moi's favourite:
quote: Craston felt a sharp feeling of worry in his spine. It commonly was a bad omen when a Science Officer called something "interesting". "Interesting" usually equalled "dangerous", "lethal" or "destructive". |

Will prepeare to post, with Maria Sanchez', Myodin's and Oberon's reactios to the events as well as the meeting between the diplomatic advisor and Nicholas to discuss who will go to the Morganities as the Kingdom's ambassador. Since I am on that subject, where is the ambassador meant to go? Callisto? Morgan Interstellar (we do not have many FTL ships btw)?
Armour... armour... Why do you assume that only Gaians would be producing Organic Armour!?! This is why I was interested in making contacts with them (ie. Alynzia ), University and Scions. Mellian, can I get into contact with the Scions to discuss sharing of research data on bioarmour - we are very interested in it! This is how we build ships so far:
[1] construct the main frame of the ship + weapons etc
[2] add thin specially designed outer armour
[3] plant GM-ed bacterium to the outside of the ship, hormone pump it to grow until it reacts with the special armour and forms a thick layer of Organic Armour
Later on, after the situation has calmed down, we will create orbital shipyards that would use asteroids and smaller moons for resources and literally grow ships. Of course this would be somewhat expensive but, with your persmission LMP (what name should I use? ), with the possesion of Self-Aware Colony and Living Refinery it could be managable some time in the future. (Hive has Ascentic Virtues and is running Thought Control. Morgan has the Longevity Vaccine & Merchant Exchange)

Which one is more likely? Or should I downsize even more? With this system, the force at Titan would be about 55 ships, facing about thirty Titanian ships.
|
the 72 Battle Squadrons is okay.... but not all Battleships and Dreadnoughts thought!
Capital Ships go from Cruiser and up.... and majority of those ships better be Corvettes/Frigates to Cruisers..... also, what kind of weapons are they using....mainly starting to use Pulse Cannons, Missiles and so on? Plasma Cannons, the heavy capital ship hitters, can also be use....but not effective against smaller and higher maneuverable ships oh, and Gauss Cannons?
Okay, where did those 30 Titanian ships come from??? Belt Mercenaries, surplus or stolen ships? Whatever they hard, hope they are no bigger then Destroyers or Cruisers...and outdated or whatever
quote:
Good news! That's only 54 ships to go! Just dropped out 245.
Otherwise, glad you liked the post. I figured that something dramatic was needed. ( The Flame of Odin )
Now, this means that the EC force orbiting Callisto is only 30 ships.
Happy now? |
yes yes a TAF Task Force should be in the Jupiter Area by now, figuring out to retake Callipso... and atleast a Battlecruiser Squadron in the Saturn Area.... eventually another TAF task Force to protect Titan from EC after Titan and area becomes TA members.
a standard fully loaded TAF task force is:
50 Terran Battlecruisers
20 Terran Carriers
100 Escort and Support Ships like Terran Destroyers, Missile Frigates, Anti-Fighter/Missile/etc Frigates and general heavy corvettes.....
25 Scouts and Picket Corvettes.
a general 200 ship Task Force....not including starfighters and other ships like Assault Transports, Supply Ships, Repair Ships, and so on that may tag along.....depending on the mission.....
so the Task Force in the Jupiter area will have about 10-20 Assault Transports.... and if they get to drop their ground forces... will be the first real TAF ground combat.... and don't assume they are Green, they been countless wargames while waiting for a chance Wargames with Mars Combine on Mars and with Scions on Pluto and some moons.
TAF Ground Units:
Terran Marines
-Starcraft type Power Armor, made of Biometal
-armed with either Pulse Assault Rifles or ISDF Assault Rifles, Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers, Missile Launchers, Frag Grenades, Mortars, Plasma Flame Throwers and etc.....
-Platoons of 75, Company of 3 Platoons, and Battalion of 3-5 Companies
Terran Medics
-Starcraft like Medics, not only females thought...biometal made armor
-they carry Pulse Gun for defence
-Medical Nanolath array thingie like in Starcraft, curtesy of the Scions
Terran Engineers
-Engineer versions of Starcraft Medics
-Repair/etc Nanolath array thingie that repair hardware then bio...
-only general light repairs... medium and mayge large repairs in numbers...
-incharge of making devices, traps, trenchs... the kind of things the US Army of Engineer Corps would do, but in a sci-fi way
Terran SCVs
-For Heavy duty Engineer stuff...also use in space
-Have Nanolaths
-can construct small buildings... larger ones in numbers...
will get to vehicles later.... have to get off now

How could Titan, a EC infrastructure and so on,and technology, jump straight to Biotechnology? even if a deal was made with the Gaians and maybe the Scions, won't be able to take advantage for awhile. things don't happen instantly
Same with establishing ship yards, and the factories and mines needed to construct ships.... maybe small ships on the surface for now, but not larger ones
Anyway, Scions will not give the secret of Biometal to anyone... but if you succeed in making good friends with them, which will be slightly hard as they are not trustworthy of the rest of humans, maybe they will get into a exchange venture... and they don't take money.
Scions would probably be more willing to construct the stuff themselves then passing the technology to make Biometal....which they only know how to Reproduce the stuff, not actually how to make it from scratch... despite being merge to the stuff
anyway, can get into an agreement eventually...but they won't share big technologies like Biometal....

First of all Titan did not have as you call it "EC" infrastructure. The researchers were focused for biotechnology from the start on the world - because of their need to survive on the world with an existing eco-system (hmm... maybe I could have native life infesting one of Titan bases? ) meaning that they did not jump "straight on" to biotech as you put it.
I wasn't planning to create big Organic ships en masse straight away! We currently have about 26 Organic ships which are not huge ships (since constructing huge Organic ships would require lots of infrastructure, which we seriously lack and will start rebuilding after the succession) but I don't think that you can call them "harmless" either.
Scions seem pretty weird - how can you replicate stuff you know nothing about? OK advanced techs etc. Anyways, why should they be so phobic of humans - they will not survive for long unless they cooperate with someone!
I was thinking of us helping them into researching how the stuff is made (by sending our current research data about biotech); we should be constantly improving our diplomatic relations with them and eventually we could have tech trade.
BTW why is Biometal considered such a high tech? Besides they cannot "guard" it forever - sooner or later someone will hack into their datalinks and possibly steal the tech.
Comments?
On another theme - I quite like these episodes about the stand-off between the Hive and the Protectorate! I think that slightly more tension could be added but it's good!
Kass, is it okay if we capture some crew that were in evacuation pods in [i]Flame of Odin[/b]? We could keep them as prisonners of war and create something for the GNN to talk about! Also, when exactly will your ships start retreating?

Lonestar,
Gaians dealing with the Usurpers in anyway? hmmm, No. No Human and Proginator contact!!! Okay enough to have the Gaians have a splinter of Caretakers on one of their worlds... successors to the survivors of a Caretaker ship that gotten shipwreck on the planet, getting in worser shape then their counter part on Chiron centuries before.... and then the Gaians finding them, colonizing the world and living in peace with the Proginators there....who haves no contact at all with the rest of the Caretaker Faction. They are into Biotechnology and bio ships too....
Makes sense of them researching the secrets of the manifolds, which would require them to still have some holdings on Chiron, watching the after effects the Chiron Flowering after the mass colonization of some factions and so on....Flowering minor damages to some bases and a percentage of the remaining population dissapeared.... assumed to have transcended or whatever.... and Planetmind reverting back to square one.... Gaians could also have people at Tau Ceti, studying the Manifold there which does have differences from Chiron, but have similiraties...
As for Nanotech hulls.... when i think of those, i don't see Shadows' dark and translucent type armor.... I see an armor which is more molecularly tight and strong in comparison to the average armor... harder to pierce.
Cybergod....
36 Bioships already??? could i see stats on those please? maybe primitive versions of bioships?
Scions isn't phobic, just generally don't trust rest of the Humans, who treated them badly before.... Biometal is a Advance Technology... biometal was first discovered after a meteor shower in the Bering Straights (whatever) in the 1950s by the Soviets and Americans...in secret of course.... Pretty much need to read the Battlezone 1 and 2 histories from some sites. Soviets and Americans ended up secretly going into space, fighting among themselves trying to find more Biometal, which they didn't know how to replicate or make it from scratch, throughout the Sol system... starting up the secret Biometal Wars in the 1970s... towards the end of it, some guy call Braddock merge Biometal to Humans...Humans of an Elite Unit called the Black Dogs i think...trying to create some super soldiers... Afterwards, they didn't look like humans, yet still stay in their humanoid form....like having a link to Biometal.... Anyway, they were soon sent to wreck havoc against the Soviet forces with their interesting Mind/Machine like connection to their Biometal vehicles.... afterwards, the Black Dogs revolted, trashed Braddock's science labs on earth, in secret of course, and rebelled against the Americans and Soviets, which Braddock gets them to join forces against the Black Dogs, soon called as the Furies... Furies were later defeated, push back at the edge of the solar system, where they discovered the Dark Planet.....where they find the origins to an ancient alien civilization and probably the creators of the Biometal..... they soon started calling themselves Scions and discovered the ancient Stargate orbiting Dark Planet, barely detectable by scanners... Stargate kept bringing them to some alien system, probably 500 to 1000 lightyears from Sol.... where they find more evidence of the ancient aliens....and the Scions learn more about Biometal, which is part of them..... in the meantime, International Space Defence Force is formed, which is soon lead by newly promoted General Braddock....they are to protect earth from anything... Braddock soon started to secretly prepare for a future coup to invade Earth with the Biometal forces.... Braddock secretly got a secret base built on pluto, operated by loyal troops...most not knowing of Braddocks plans....they end up discovering Dark Planet and discovering the Scions, but don't do anything yet.... Braddock loyal units and Scion intereaction is unknown at that point.... the Pluto base was later discovered by the rest of the ISDF when it got attacked by Scion ground forces........which ends being only a raid to capture some alien hardware the base had...probably from the Dark Planet at the edge of Sol... so begins Battlezone 2..... end up battleing on Pluto, on Dark Planet and then some alien planets at that alien system via the Stargate (in the game it was a wormhole, just a slight detail) during that time, Braddock's conspiracy and plans is discovered and stopped, where Braddock gets killed on one of the alien worlds... ISDF forces retreats from the alien system and after some more battles around the Dark Planet, the Stargate was non intentionally damaged....becoming unoperational. remaining ISDF forces retreat from Dark Planet and Pluto back towards the inner system... Scions didn't when after them...... the secret Alliance of Awaken Nations disbands the ISDF, on the reasoning that Biometal is to dangerous and so on.... so all ISDF units gets dismantle and Biometal sent towards the sun.... all ISDF bases abandoned....taken all hardware and trashing the buildings..... (later discovered in the future, but proven useless and no records behind to prove what was the bases...probably alien ones of the past, shrugs...until they learn the truth after the official Scion War)
Scions kep to themselves, sad to lose contact of the Scions left at the Alien system...not knowing what happens to them.... Scions stay quiet and build up their own society on the Dark Planet, which is eventually heavily populated and renewed.... during that time, they quietly acquire what is left of the Biometal in Sol before Earth gets back into space....they learn more about the Biometal, but still didnt figure out how it was first created... while they tried to find the secret of biometal, they learn how to reproducing it which involves using energy....preventing the need to go off mining for resources....they also vowed to never allow the rest of humanity to get their hands on biometal again......... when Earth started colonizing Sol, scions kept quiet and simply observed with stealth scout ships.... later making contact with the Fraal, doing the same.... when the Coalition discovered a Scion scout ships, the humans became scared of an alien invasion, which Earth and Mars exagerated... using it an excuse to stop the Second War of Sol between the Coalition and Combine.... they join forces to fight the Scions.... Scions didnt want them to find the Dark Planet, so make raids on Pluto, some Saturn and Jupiter moons as distraction. Coalition scout eventually ddid discover the Dark Planet...which in resposne, the Coalition,, Combine and maybe some InEn ships mount a large fleet to go to the Dark Planet to eliminate the Scions. After the Scion ships were decimated (Scion fleet was small), a Fraal Mothership appeared out of nowhere, in response to a distress signal from the Scions. then the Scion War ended, making first contact with the Fraal and learning the truth about the Scions... later on, Scions were initially discriminated against, but the Scions ignored rest of Sol and kept to themselves, building themselves a fleet of biometal built Scion Frigates.... later on, they simply join the Terran Alliance, but still kept to themselves.... TAF wad formed and later wanted to built their unique advance ship, and according to the Terran Alliance membership agreement, Scions must helped technologicly, which they did, but only some lower base technologies without passing the knowledge of Biometal, which they only ones who have in Sol atleast.... later on, TAF really got the Scions to open up, after a bit of convincing from the Fleet Admirable...and they make some deal....Scions will not reveal the knowledge of Biometal, but will provide the old ISDF specs and data of their technologies...and will construct ground units and equipemtn for the TAF ground forces on Pluto, strickly by the Scions.......... that is the only compromise the Scions ever made................but still don't trust the TAF and the rest of humans...worried that the rest will get some biometal from the TAF,which they don't....
As for Infiltrating the Scions.... as been tried, but failed miserably. no normal human can pass as a Scion.... and the Scion Datalinks is impossible to breach as they use an entire different system net...which is via Biometal in most cases.... Scions have MMI like connections to Biometal and their Biometal vehicles.... making them really effective in combat. and since the Scions doesn't allow Terrans on Dark Planet or anywhere near their stuff, pretty hard to sneak in and simply steal the data on biometal... did i say the Scion alien like information networks isn't connected to rest of Terran networks? best way to acquire some biometal is making a raid at the Scion factories on Pluto...and the planet is heavily defended by the TAF...with help of the Scions. TAF is hard to infiltrate and can't simply hack their into their system either.... TAF knows of such tactics and readied themselves against such... and infiltrating Pluto is even harder...no non-TAF people allowed on Pluto...except for the Scions of course.
Even then, rest of the members barely know of the Scions, as the Scions are so darn quiet.. and not interested in imposing anything against them, as they don't want to deal with the Fraal in a bad manner not sure why the Fraal protects the Scions..... TAF is not revealling anything on the Scions either. so if members don't know much about the Scions...hard to know of biometal in the first place....except for rumours about organic like technologies, them looking like monsters, and etc....
Only way i can see the Titans have any knowledge of biometal, useless as they may be, is from the EC secret archives from the past Scion War... where they were able to acquire scrapts of Biometal from destroyed Scion units... (Scions didn't went full fledge at the time either, or built bases to contruct more units at the locations they attacked...so the more unique units were never seen...except by the TAF on Pluto and during wargames with the Scions )..and then analyse to no avail of how the stuff works.
so the Titanians pretty much need to make first contact the Scions... Scions will not answer comm messages sent to the Dark Planet... Scions representives at the Council will not meet with the Titanians ones.... can try sending a diplo ship to the Dark Planet, which the Scions will consider suspicious and the TAF noticing.... Before considering tech deals, need to figure out a go reaosn why the Scions should even bother talking to the Titanians... and money, resources, or even their own research on biotechnology would help... Scions are generally higher tech then the rest of TA anyway... just that they don't take advantage of that... they are not militaristic or warlike despite their ancestors origins....
Yes i am being a pain maybe would have higher chances contacting the Gaians

Dude, I was just joking around. Though of the Progenitor factions, I actually think the Gaians would swing with the Usurpers.
Anywho, if you want I recommend you check out
