More on Gienah Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Gienah is another map in my Civ 3 star series where I have restricted resources more than my earlier maps. On Gienah, you will find mountains forming the spine of the 3 main continental areas. But the 3 "continents" meet in the middle of Gienah, sort of like the Middle East on Earth where Asia, Africa and Europe meet. Enjoy Gienah! Here is the file:

PTW Maps: Canopus Got spare money?

As promised, I have made some maps for PTW. I am uploading 3 of them today. The first I call Canopus.
Now, Canopus is the 2nd-brightest star in the sky, located in the ancient large constellation Argo. My thanks to TeTurkhan for the basic rules. I have made the Canopus map playable with 31 civs. Here is the Canopus file:

More on Canopus Get a bigger avatar today!

Canopus has more than 8 luxury resources, including coffee, tobacco, rice, and pearls. I have set these resources to appear with certain technologies. I have also set 7 victory point locations, which are guarding some of these resources. Canopus has 3 main continents, but 4 decent-sized offshore islands too. In fact, some resources are found exclusively on these islands. Here is a screenshot of Canopus:

PTW map: Diphda Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

The 2nd map I am submitting today is Diphda. It is a bright star in the constellation Cetus, the sea-monster. In keeping with the naval theme, there are 8 continents on Diphda, with 4 starting locations each. This means there will be 4 civs per continent, except one which will have 3 civs (the barbs are "civ" #32).

Naval technologies will be important on Diphda, and trading will be too. Some resources are exclusive to some islands. Seals, pigs, sheep and crabs are some additional resources. The Americans are not in this scenario, but several other civs are. Again, this was based on TeTurkhan's Test Of Time mod that came with PTW. Here is a screenshot of Diphda:

PTW maps: Dubhe Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Lastly, here is my Dubhe map. Dubhe is a star
in Ursa Major, the Big Bear; which also makes it part of the most famous "asterism" (visibly recognizable grouping of stars)- the Big Dipper.

Dubhe is a pangaea on a standard-sized map. Its outer coastline is hostile; however, there are 3 great seas in the interior. Of 25 starting locations, 1 is in a position to connect a sea to the ocean. Resources are limited on Dubhe, though there are plenty of rivers. Enjoy Dubhe! Here is the file:

quasar

thanks for all the maps! some really look interesting and fascinating. i like some of the forrest/jungle covered planets. makes it interesting and give us an advantage against the AI (who's very slow at clearing them). also, the 10 shield bonus makes industrial a "must have" trait.

i agree with some that there are some maps with way too many resources. doesn't make the hunt for the good spots that important any more.

last, can you explain, what the names of the stars/galaxies have got to do with the maps? especially the pangea maps don't really remind me of stars

Simply put, I am imagining that inhabitable planets are found circling certain stars. Let's say the bright star Vega has an inhabitable planet circling it. My Vega map is for that planet. Of course, naming planets for their parent stars is just a simplification; mankind hasn't gotten around to naming planets outside the solar system yet, except in fiction. The equivalent of naming Earth for its star would be to call our planet Sol . I named my Civ 2 scenarios after stars as well, so all this is is a naming convention.

These are the last maps for vanilla Civ 3 I will upload.
I am starting a new thread for PTW maps, and have uploaded 4 of them so far- including the last 3 that I uploaded here.

Forget Harry Potter, you can bet I will be getting Civ 3:Conquests as soon as it comes out!

Full PM-box? Change here!

ah, ok, so it's just a name, not really caring about the solar systems, the size of the star, etc. i get it

in most science fiction the planets are named after their sun. earth would be Sol III, jupiter Sol V, etc.

about PTW maps. all maps of yours had 16 civs till now. and if you don't change the rules, you could just as well save them for civ3 vanilla... ptw is backwards compatible and can load bic-files.
