	Is it possible to skip opening movie? Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Is there a parameter that you can pass with the EXE so that it skips the opening movie? This would simply save time when loading the game.

You could try and press Enter or Escape when the movie begins to appear

some way of doing this would be nice. is the movie in the civ3 folder or on the cd?

You can rename the movie file and when it does not find it, it will just skip it. I am at work now and can't remember the name of the file though. Sorry but hope it helps

Yes, you can. But if you wait until the point where you can press escape your monitor has already adjusted its resolution and it will again be adjusted after you press escape for the game, plus it does take extra time to do that - Granted, not very much but every little bit helps. This way you do not have to sit there while it loads up either.

I've never noticed any such delay. It may be that my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 256) can switch resolutions quickly, or it may be that I'm unobservant...I dunno

Well it is perfectly understandable on a laptop. They aren't designed for games and I made the mistake of installing several games on my laptop including Civ 3 and having all sorts of problems with them. I also don't like the way the LCD screen displays the graphics, they look all bitty at least on my laptop (which isn't old).

Everything looks and runs ok on my laptop. Never got even a single error with CIV III (amazing by looking at some of the problems other people have had) Just seems to have a wimpy graphics card and that opening movie loads slow and I hate watching it change my resolution constantly. (I have my resolution set very high)

It is probably the configuration of my laptop that causes problems. The graphics card is a system one and so it isn't very powerful. The only real error I have had with Civ 3 is one where if I click buttons on the replay screen to quickly after it is displayed the program generates and error script and closes. On this PC (the one I have all my games on) I have had no problems with Civ 3. I want to format my laptop's hard drive and just install work stuff but I haven't worked out how yet. Windows doesn't seem to like formatting the one hard drive it is installed on.
