I don't really get this thread. Do you want to take screanshots, of find screenshots of the game in action?

When I want a shot of the game, I press Prt Scr on the keyboard, open up Paint, and paste it there, resizing the window if required. Then save as a bitmap, and use Irfanview to change into -jpg-format for smaller space and thus being able to post on Apolyton.
If there's a simpler way, do tell me.

Hmmm.... Never thought of it that way

On topic, I don't think CivIII features automatic screenshots... Not like Starcraft or something, that is. I think the only way is to just hit Print Scrn, go to, say, Paint, and then paste. It'll be your sceenshot, and from there, you can save it

EDIT: And if SlowwHand is right and you are just looking for screenshots to look at, just do a little search at http://www.google.com "CivIII Screenshots" That should get you far. (http://www.altavista.com will work as well, but really, I think you know )

When you press Print Screen, it stores the image in the Clipboard, or in your RAM in other words. You then have to paste it into an art program of some sort. Think of the Copy/Paste functions in a word processor, it works the same sort of way.

paint will do this job fine.

For an actual screenshot utility go to d/l.com and get ScreenPrint Gold.
No restrictions on use and the gold version is now full freeware.Lots of capture options and an image editor.

Yes, it's horrendous! Adobe Photoshop is by far the best program to use. It's the workhorse of just about any kind of graphics based business you can think of. Expensive to buy, although they do have scaled down consumer versions available.

I liked Paintbrush, but it was replaced with MS Paint in Windows 95, and since then I've used other apps.

Personally, I find Jasc. Paintshop Pro to better suit my needs... Maybe that is because I'm not on a proffesional level, but I can get quite far with PP, it's got the same layer system.

Question Get a bigger avatar today!

Ok, I've figured out the prtscreen and paste in my paint program bit. Then what do I do (I apologize to those of you for whom this is really, really, easy) in order to be able to post a screenshot such that it appears as part of the post, like you often see in the succession games? Please recall that, although I'm a pretty hardcore gamer, I'm shocking inept at anything else relating to computers, so please go step-by-step. Thanks.

Alright, so you pressed prtscreen and pasted into paint. Now, save the image. You know how the saving bit goes? File --> Save as... And then enter name and hit the save button. Your file is now saved in the directory where you chose to save it. Now, it is a .bmp file. To post it here, you want it to be small, and since .bmp files aren't small, you want it to be .gif or .jpg. Well, unfortunately, you need other programs to change a .bmp to a .jpg or a .gif. You can't do that with paint. One program that does support this, is Paintshop Pro. Download this at http://www.jasc.com, install, register (it takes you from step to step I guess ) and when you're in the prog, just load the .bmp you saved earlier. When it's on your screen, don't do anything but just save it again. Now, select to save it as .gif or .jpg, in the bar underneath the bar where you can enter the filename. It will ask a question or two, just say yes. It's gonna be allright, no need for panic Now, you have a pic that can be posted here. In order to post it here, you need to attach the file using the tools included with this message board....

Downloading Paintshop Pro is not necessary though. There are many programs that support .bmp to .jpg/.gif converting... Others are listed in this thread, and maybe someone else can tell you some more.

But what would be the http: path if you wanted it to appear in the message body, rather than just attach it?

Well I'm still not sure here. The file has to be on the Apolyton system somewhere, if the sender doesn't have his/her own web site, so how do you get it to their image directory in order to provide the path? Or is this function restricted to only those people that have their own site, or access to one?

It would have to be on a server somewhere. For most people, servers are remote, so they could FTP the file.
