	How do you install mod's?? Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Hi!

Could anuone explain to me how you actually install mod's onto your system? I've look around and haven't found any answer yet! Could anyone help me out please?

Hi Tommy.


Go into the Civ3 directory, whatever it's called, and find the file called "civ3mod.bic" rename this file to something you wont forget, like "thisistheoldciv3mod.bic" or whatever. Then copy your new mod into this directory, and rename it "civ3mod.bic"

If you have v1.16f, there is NO reason to overwrite civ3mod.bic, and we STRONGLY recommend you not modify, rename, or otherwise tamper with the file.

With v1.16f you can save each mod in a seperate BIC file, and simply start your mod of choice by using the "Load Scenario" functionality on the main menu.

Not a problem, I'm just trying to save people from the agony of realizing they've overwritten their civ3mod.bic and and the only way to get it off the game CD is to do a complete reinstall

I imagine you still have to rename the civ3mod.bic file if you want to mod a current game, correct?

Yes, and I don't recommend this -- reason being because some of the BIC information is stored in the savegame file, and some of it is stored in the BIC if the game thinks you're playing a default (i.e., non modified) game.

I'm not totally convinced that changing the default BIC file will result in a totally and completely affected savegame.
