	Something wrong with the search feature? Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

I just tried searching for all posts ever made by me anywhere on these forums with the word 'code' in it. It returned 14 results, all made in the last 3-4 weeks. Seeing how I've been a SLIC coder for well over 2 years now, I somewhat doubt the accuracy of this search result When I use the 'search all posts by this user' feature in my profile I can go back all the way to the very first post I ever made here (Oh, the nostalgia! ), but I obviously can't narrow the selection down, which is a little awkward if you need one specific fact and you've made well over 1500 (often long) posts...

Is there a problem with the search feature?


Edit: while we're at the subject, why can't I go back very far in the regular forum structure? If I click the '>>' page button on CtP2 Creation, the oldest thread I get is only a few months old. Why can't I access the older stuff I can get to it through my profile, so it exists....

Hmmm... I don't think we have any archives anymore... But even if that's true, why can't I search the archives then?

There are offline arcives, that can't be searched. They were taken down to speed up the server back at Gamestats.

See this thread. Markos restored the CtP forum threads but not the Civ3 ones (realizing full well that CtP is the superior game ). Yet, even though the threads are restored, I can't seem to search for them (I think this *was* possible earlier (say, 2 weeks ago) but I'm not sure about that)

I guess that it is easier for the db to find posts by a known user ID then it is from by a known username string.

Yuo did select list results as threads, not as posts.

I don't get it... could you rephrase? And that link you gave me, is that supposed to show all posts ever made by me with 'code' in it? Cause I still only get 20 results... (why 6 more than before beats me...)

Hmm, I think I know what you mean with 'show results as posts' but that still doesn't allow me to search back further than 3-4 weeks...

Yes, that is it. I think it is a combination then. It can find your post, but don't know what words that are in them as they aren't indexed.

I tested it. You're right. They're indeed not indexed. Markos, any chance you could index them? Please, pretty please with a cherry on top

when we moved to the current server, in order to allow a faster move and because there was an issue with the size of backup file, the search index was reset

indexing of course started again as the forums began to work on the new server, but a complete re-index is extremely difficult when we're talking about 35000 threads
