Dip 63? Lion In the North (v1.0) Diplomacy Starts

Not sure if that's the right number - Ruff?

Welcome to my new Diplomacy variant, "Lion Of The North". This is the first playtest, so I would appreciate any comments you have on the map, the country assignments, the playability etc, both as we go along and at the end.

The rules are standard and there are no special circumstances. There are a total of 37 SCs and 19 are required for a solo.

Orders should be sent to me by either email (the_orange1@hotmail.com), Poly private message or by icq (109943271). I ALWAYS send a confirmation message - if you don't get one, I don't have your orders so send them again.

Orders for the game will be posted here in Apolyton first, and then on my website (http://members.fortunecity.com/theo...mbassy/id7.html). I also intend to email postings to all players, but you should not rely on this - it is your responsibility to check Apolyton regularly, which most of you do anyway.

As with my other games, deadlines will be roughly once a week for moves and about 24-48 hours for adjustments. I allow a 24hr grace period after the deadline before I NMR. Players are STRONGLY advised not to NMR - this spoils the game for everyone. A player who NMRs in 2 consecutive turns or 3 times in total will be replaced. Extensions are usually granted if required, but please try and let me know in plenty of time.

Ok, the bit everyone has been waiting for, country assignments. 6 out of 8 of you all had the evil English down as their first choice (how could you? I know they have a nice corner position, but they're EVIL!!). Anyway, I picked in strict time order, so here they are:

Incidentally, I'll update the player rankings this weekend for February. I think I skipped January, but December was so dormant here that it wasn't really needed.
