i checked wiglaf's profile, and that was the screen name specified, so either i really was talking to wiglaf, or his "hacker"

Unfortunately, he's an AOL user.

And that means lots of dynamically assigned IPs, and lots of common hits with other AOL users, and all those free million hours promotions out there.

If it was someone else, who had a little sense about covering their tracks, it would be a real pain in the ass to try to sort out who.

It's not the mods, because all of our admin actions (including fixing user accounts, etc.) are logged to a file that we don't have access to, so there's a record of everyone and everything they've done through the vBulletin control panel.

Could be... The next person to talk to Wiglaf should tell him to check his email... In the last one he sent to me, he told me to change it to his original password. I did so... and sent him an email confirmation of that fact. I just checked his membership and the password is "STILL" the one he asked for.

As people will confirm, I'm usually very good at helping people when they have problems with their accounts...

And I agree with what MtG said... If I'm going to mess with somebody, they know it's me. I don't hide my involvement.

for some strange reason, wiglaf's e-mail on both Apolyton and FFZ is the same(in fact the current mail and pass on his apolyton account is the same as what it was when i first checked his account a couple of hours after his "complaint"). so if he can post on FFZ, it means his account there is just fine and that's his real mail(i still havent recieved any mail by him, obviously if you thought the mods were doing weird stuff on you, you would mail the owners, right?). so if he has "lost" access to his apolyton account all he has to do is to ask for his password to be mailed. hell, i did it for him already.

I don't know what you're getting at, Gianopolloosoksi. Ming reset my password recently, which would obviously account for the fact that at the start of today it was the same as it was at the start of the complaint thread. I didn't just pretend I didn't know my password all of a sudden. But thanks for sending the login info (ming did too, just didn't check hotmail yesterday).

As H Tower has taken it upon himself to compromise my investigation, I'm going to go ahead and add him to my list of suspects along with Asher, the mods, Zealot (don't care where you live son), DanQ, PH, loinburger, Guynemer, Gasmaske, Zopper, orange, and so on. Basically any liberal or British/Canadian poster is subject to intense inspection now. Hey, don't look at me.

Finally, thanks to all two of you who held out extreme hope and kindness during this pissy compaign of nazi terror on my account. Hopefully we've seen the last of this vile conspiracy. Anyway, I'm off for now, got work to do.
