How to disable barbarians? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Hi

How can i completely disable barbarians in the game? (Or if this isn't possible, how do I change the percentages of things you get when entering a barbarian village?)

thanks in advance

are you talking barbarians, or goodie huts? you only get one thing when you enter a barbarian village: 25gold.

you can set barbarian frequency quite low (and perhaps all the way off) when you start a game, or you can use the editor and disable their unit types.

but for goodie huts, i have no idea.

why do you want to remove those, anyway?

Actually, the amount can be higher later in the game. I've received 50 gold on several occasions, but no more than that, probably because all the villages are destroyed by the late game, or else I'd expect even bigger payoffs.

The thing is: I think it's not very fair if you gain technology, money, a city, a unit just by luck if you discover and enter a hut.

I always play with least barbarians possible, but those huts still remain.

But that's part of the value of an Expansionist civ. If you get rid of the goody huts, you hobble that ability completely. And why is it not fair if all the civs get rewarded in the same way? And it's a way of speeding up the early part of the game. Other wise you might end up crawling out of the Ancient era sometime around 1960 AD. At any rate, it's not possible to turn off the goody huts, or the Barbarians. Though you can reduce their frequency to almost nil. Personally, I like them. I have mine set for Raging, and still think they're rather lame.
