Brother Troll,
You do not need to preach to me the joy of God. Since I found him, I have been ****in blessed with so many good things on a personal level. And theres is never a day when I forget my umbrella does it rain, or when my balance sheet is low, I squirt bye. He provides....**** all else, he provides. |
Well, to be sure we all need preaching too, you, I, and everyone else.
If you took offense, then maybe thats conviction, because it was not meant to be offensive to you individually, but as a whole we all to to repent!
Yours in Civin

You know, all I wanted was for the Romans to leave us Jews alone. But of all the things that I thought would happen, being named God Jr. was the last thing I would've guessed. Go figure.
Hey, Evan! You don't need me! All that crap about being "saved" is just a bunch of hooey spouted out by a bunch of people who would rather you follow them instead of me. I mean, the drill was ancient when Rome was young:
Get a bunch of people (or a single person, it don't matter) and convince them of their worthlessness. Keep them ignorant and frightened, make them feel impotent and helpless. Lead them into thinking that only by religious salvation (as defined by the ruling elite (priesthood, Emperor, whoever)) can they be worth anything. Make sure that this "saving" bit includes some $$$ (or, at least, the moral right of slavery) so that the power base can be perpetuated. Repeat as needed.
Jesus! (Oops. Didn't mean to take my own name in vain!) God only knows why the hell people fall for this crap. You know, I should've let the moneychangers stay in the Temple - at least they were honest in their greed.

There is a perfectly legitimate church near where I live. Despite calling themselves 'Christians,' they use and promote cult tactics in order to gain new members, which of course is crucial to salvation . They try to lure in popular kids in high schools. Athletic and class president types. The most impressionable. Then they can use these kids' charisma to lure in others. They will be your best friends for no apparent reason. They will invite you into a group where you will beleive that you are liked, all the while trying to fill your head with their 'ideas' about Christianity. They tell you to abandon your old friends (if you can't convert them, to destroy anything secular like music, books, and movies. Basically, isolate yourself from everything but them. Eventually, you will become dependent on them, having lost everything else. At this point, you will return to where ever you were socially just before you joined them only within their group. Nerds will be treated like nerds. Jocks like jocks. Popular kids will rule with even more power than they had in high school. I knew one kid, who fell into deep depression after his 'friends' felt that he was a little too different for them.
I used to attend this church with my sister. Though I never considered myself one of their members. They were friendly, but hostile to any of my beliefs outside of their own. They claimed that they were nondemoninational, but that was only a ruse to lure away members from other churches. They would use music to confuse their younger members. By playing very loudly, the fools actually believed that the vibrations they felt in their bodies was the spirit of God. The false euphoria was the Holy Spirit, in their younger impressionable minds. I stayed out of morbid curiousity. I never said that I wasn't evil , I enjoyed watching them be manipulated. Throwing their lives away, so that I could surpass them easily in real life. I felt little sympathy for them because they had become such mindless, nonhuman fools. You can always spot an American 'Christian' by looked at their glazed eyes. Everyone is the same. Eventually, I grew tired of them, and they grew less receptive to me. They wouldn't even let me into their church one time. That last I heard, their ex-murder preacher is giving sermons on the evils of Islam and how they should be converted to Christianity.
As for EVC, I believe that this girl is using him. It is really an old tactic. He is calling her his girlfriend, even though thy just met and were perfect strangers before that. I fear that he will get hurt beyond what he can handle with his past problems. These places don't care about people, life, or love. They only want money and power. Of course, the scariest ones are the ones who don't. The ones who are led by people who actually believe what they are saying.
In general, I don't trust any religion. 9/11 has only pushed me further in this direction. I do believe in God and Jesus Christ as his son or messanger. But I do not support the Bible as a religious text. I see it as a mythological history of the Jews (old testament), which contains some true but mostly embellished accounts. And as a manipulation of the teachings of Christ (new testament) perverted by human hands.

Maybe they're slipping their "converts" some E's? I've always wondered how easy it would be to set up one of those cults. I think with a few brains, and no scrupules you could make a big wallop of cash of impressionable idiots.
