How much gold per turn is used for support of units? I can't seem to find the exact answer for this in either the manual or the strategy guide. For example, my treasury shows that I have an outlay of 18 for unit costs. I am playing chieftan mode, monarchy government, middle ages. I have for units.....
1 settler
8 workers
3 warriors
6 archers
28 spearmen
1 horseman
4 catapult
1 galley
Who is getting billed and who isn't?
Thanks in advance, Patrick

Then you have 4*6+2*5=34 free units.
You pay for 18 units, which ones doesn't matter.
Under Monarchy you get 2 free units for cities under 7 in size, 4 for cities 7-12 and 8 for cities >12.
