	My Game Crashed :s Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Hi Folks, Today I installed Civ III on my Computer in my home town , the Machine has Windows XP, I added Facism as a form of govermnet.. I tweaked all the attributes and didnt see any problem, but when i loaded the game, it crashed when i went to the Domestic window, I have patched it btw.

Do people think that the crash was caused the Patch and XP clash, or adding Facism?? (btw - I didnt include a leader title)

have others here created thier governments with the editor before??

i have windows XP, and EVERY TIME i have added a pcth, the game crashes at some point, never in game till just now, so now i cant get past 690BC or Korn's blitz mod

i had a great startin position to NOP RIVALS. man.

perhaps it is a windows XP and a Civ3 patch problem....

Is that you, "Zouave" aka Anti-Enco messing around again?

If not, coming on here and dissing an okay dude like Spec isn't a good way to seek help here.

But I'll throw you a bone, just this once.

The best way that I know of to add Facism to your list of governments is to simply install Wolfshanze's Facism patch. He has already done all the heavy lifting in terms of modifying the game's files, so why create one on your own?

but the problem he means is the mod crashes his game, and i have had similar cases. perhaps it is windows XP.

That's what killed you. It's happened to me before. Give a leader title like Dictator or Furher or something. IF there's nothing, it crashes whenever it would otherwise refer to the title.

Was the mod designed for 1.16f or 1.17f? If the former, than that should explain the crashes. The majority of the mods that I've seen that were designed for 1.16f don't work properly w/ 1.17f.

You'll have to wait for the modders themselves to update their mods to ensure full compatibility w/ 1.17f.

In short, I doubt if it's Windows XP.

well, once it was a cross with 1.17f and a mod for 1.16. but every other time (post and pre 1.17) i have had some illegal operation probs.

Yep, was the title, I've since added Dictator and it works no probs.

I worked out it obviously crashed as that little comic guy would say something like 'dictator,Rome is growing slowly' , but of course didnt have the leader title

Well thanks for bringing that up! I'm planning on adding a couple of govs as well, so you saved me the hassle of trying to figure out why it's crashing. I sir, am forever in your debt.

My game crashes almost periodically every 30 minutes of play. It's really odd, it must be some program I have running in the background messing with resources. Since I have 'autosave for every turn' on, it's really more of an annoyance than anything

yea, I can confirm I am NOT Enco or Zouve or whoever....


And why do you dislike Enco so much?? all he does is give his opinion ,which he has a right to do. on the other hand all Spec does is slaughter newbies (Even tho he only joined in January himself).

I wasn't implying that you were Enco, only there was some confusion here the other day involving someone named "Anti-Encomium", so it was an honest mistake.

As far as Enco is concerned, well, stick around and you'll see.

And I don't dislike Enco. In fact, some of my best civ-releated comedic material is inspired by him. So how could I ever begrudge him for that?

With my own civ3 games I have noticed more "illegal operations" crashes since I installed the new patch (1.17f)- among other bugs (see my post on patch 1.17f bugs for more info) with the new patch. If I select the newly added preferences provided by the new patch the game crashes almost instantly.

Slaughter newbies??? No way, I go after ppl like Enco( probably you) lib and guys like that! And the worst part is that you take it personnaly. And if i get it right I can't tell y'all what I think cuz I just joined in January, well that' BS! You HAVE too be Enco, or Lib but I doubt that Lib would dig that deep. Just for the record, I got Windows XP, 1.17 and play with my modifications, and am yet to get a crash.

Wow. This is rather strange. Same avatar and everything. Sorry guys, didn't mean to cause that much confusion. Honest. I just came to talk CIV3 and irritate the hell out of Encomium.

I am pretty sure that is Encomium. Just take a look at his profile. What a DiC. Although, that was far more entertaining than the usual 'CIV3 sucks' rant. Hmmm. Creativity. Next, he will declare he is a born again civer.
