What version of StuffIt do you have? (do a find command if you aren't sure, and once in the program go to the apple menu and then "about stuffit...")
And another thing...is the problem opening the final installer or unstuffing it? |
stuff it lite 6.5 and i have the installer unstuffed, it's just that when i try to open it it won't because it "can't find stuffit"
so i don't get it

This sounds like a weird CarbonLib memory thing. What's happening is that it's trying to launch the installer, it gets halfway through and then dies. Try jacking up the memory allocated to the installer by a meg or three. You didn't mention what version of the MacOS/CarbonLib you have, but that could be part of it. I know that Carbon Stuffit InstallerMaker has issues under 8.6.

i followed mac os help on trying to increase the memory allocation and it told me this: to open the general information on the thing and choose memory from the submenu and press continue. what the hell is the submenu, because i don't see it anywhere.
any help would be appreciated.

what you need to do is
1) select the installer program
2a) from the menu bar, slect File->Get Info->Memory
or
2b) type apple-I and select Memory from the popup-menu in the info box. The popup menu has the word "show" in front of it.
3) look at the value in the text box labled prefered size and add a few thousand to the value. (I tend to increment the value in units of 1024 myself)
Does this help?
