Vue - Hitchhiking
It's OK, very regular rock, but there just isn't a single spot where I go, "cool". Very bland, in my opinion, more something you might hear on the radio or whatever, but wouldn't rush out to get.
The White Stripes - Jimmy the Exploder
Fairly interesting, but the guy sounds too much like AC/DC, and I don't like that. I also don't understand why the guy sounds like he's playing live, but the band definitely doesn't have that sound. Probably just a poor quality recording.
Fun Lovin' Criminals - There was a Time
Nice bluesy guitar, yet the lyrics make me think of a techno song or something, very laidback beat. Just... mellow... lets you float. OK, the part with the beat down to nothing is bad, the lady being electronicized isn't good enough to stand on it's own.
Loggins+Messina Vahevala
Not my cup of tea. Too 70s CSN for me, combined with more of a country flavor in the lyrics. The cowbell solo rocks though. Fairly decent solos everall, but I don't like the way the lyrics play into that.
fintelligens - Suomi Haloo
What is it about someone rapping in a foreign language that makes me smile? Awesome, I have no idea what they're saying, and I don't care. I don't like rap, but this is alright just for the foreign language aspect.
Solid Solution - Logical Song
Haha, I thought it was just some Russian guy or something who called his song the same as that 80s song, but.. nope Wow, a techno remix of the Logical Song... Interesting, but, way too repetitive, and the original isn't all that great anyway.
robin trower - i want you to love me
Very, straight up bluesy. Which means that I'm not very appreciative of it. The guy's not really "singing", more just talking, and though the guitar sounds alright, there isn't enough, and it doesn't vary much from the classic blues style.

Well, from this weeks theme I can conclude that EVERYONE except me goes to either "Alternative" or "Dance" clubs. Oh well.
The Club Theme Reviews in the order they magically appeared in Winamp when I used the "Enqueue in Winamp" command:
Bob Sinclair - I Feel for You: Disco Disco Disco!
Sisters of Mercy - Temple of Love: Despite seeming to have difficulty deciding if it wants to be Industrial Rock or Eurodancecheese, this is just too silly to dislike. (Too long though. Might work better in a club.)
Luke Slater - Love: Sounds like completely typical dance fare to me, ie. Awful. I had my misgivings from the very start with the synth pad atmospheric bullshit.
Grace - Not Over Yet: This, rather to my shame, is the only record sent to me this week that I already owned, on a "classic dance" compilation I bought years ago. I don't mind it particularly for being soulless euro-bollocks.
Future sound of london - original: I like the vaguely latino basic rhythm, but then the formulaeic synth pad nonsense sets in. Shame.
BabyD - Euphoria: Despite showering us with unoriginal sounds from the onset, this definately has something good about it. Possibly the Dancehall rapper makes it worthwhile, or the naive-humming chorus. Nice.
Veracocha - Carte Blanche: Formulaic nonsense. Dance and originality seems a doomed combination these days...
Utah Saints - Love Song: Of all the acts that came to my University that I missed, I most regret missing the Saints. This is okay, they can do better.
808 State - Pacific 707: Muzak.
Dimitri from Paris - HOUSE: Not bad at all. Unique and cool samples, nice rhtyhm construction, the right stop-start structure for a club anthem. Shame about the Pan Flute.
Katastrof - Zuipe (Jump Mix): Eurofootballchantingnonsense. Hey!
Gigi D'Agostino - L'Amour Toujours: It is possible to make dance music with original samples and unusual instrumentation. It is. Isn't it?
The Union Underground - Natural High: As The Rulers (famously misquoted by the Clash) would have said: This has a Right Embryo. Remove all the nu-metal instrumentation, shouting, flourishes, etc. off this track (okay, most of it) and you find inspiration from some very valuable sources, most notably Scary Monsters-era Bowie.
Loco - There was a time: Neither exciting nor particularly awful. I'll give it because I dislike Chillout on principle.
Lil' Louis - French Kiss: Reads like a pastiche of a cover of a seventies funk song. this isn't necessarily bad.
Rob Zombie - Never Gonna Stop the Red Red K: The sample at the beginning is the best thing about this rather lackluster funk-metal dullness.
Coal Chamber - Sway: Metal.
Paul Van Dyk - Words: Okay for it's type I guess.
Aftershock - Slave to the Vibe: How come white men were able to do soul pretty well in the sixties, yet turn out this sort of stuff as some sort of tribute to Funk in the seventies? No, it's not George Michael or Jay Kay, but it sure sounds like them.
Loggins + Messina - Vahevala: Lion King Soundtrack reject?

Deejay Otzi - Hey Baby: Absolutely horrible. Bland, contrived song with horrible beat, rythm, music, lyrics, and vocals. Horrible all around. To make it worse, the "OHH! AHH!" is just bad.
German Military Marches: WTF?
Grease - Grease Megamix: Oh my GOD. The songs from it, and the movie itself was bad enough. Why mix all them together?! It's suicide.
Jakatta - American Dream: UGH. Horrible! Can't even say one nice thing about it.
Katastroof: Almost funny, but too lame and poorly performed to have that effect.
Soulwax - Conversation Intercom: Too British. Bad lyrics, bad rythm. Could be so much better.
Pointer Sister - Slow Hand: Flashbacks! Bad! BAD! BAD!
Twarres - Wa Zeg Nou?!: Please tell me someone sent this in as a joke!

4 Thumbs up - This song gives me an erection.
4 thumbs down - I'd rather stick sharp, pointy things up my ass than listen to this song again.
Bloodhound Gang - "The Ballad of Chasey Lane"
Some combination of pop-punk and alternative. Like Blink 182, but not too crappy. Whiny voice.
Eric Clapton - "I Want a Little Girl"
Not bad. Clapton rarely does anything exceptional outside of Cream and some of his blues, so I wasn't expecting much.
Fats Domino - "Blueberry Hill"
Oldies rock. Very restrained guitar. Neduicre.
Fintelligens - "Suomi Haloo"
Rap in Spanish. It might be decent if I could understand any of it.
George Thorogood - "Get a Haircut"
Damn fine Blues. I've got to check more of this guy's music out.
Goldfinger - "Superman"
Ska. Poppy. Catchy. I'm in a generous mood right now and all those crazy brass instruments are refreshing.
Hoggboy - "So Young"
Too bizarre.
Joe Satriani - "New Blues:
By far the best Satriani I've heard so far - was what I was thinking before the first minute ended. Then it turned into his usual annoying 80's crap. Then it redeemed itself again. Ad nauseum.
Madness - "On the Wings of a Dove"
Ok, I'll be honest; I listened to it for only 20 seconds. At first, I thought, this isn't too bad, just some bad 80's music. Then I heard the lyrics...
Muddy Waters - "The Blues Had a Baby"
Very nice! The best of the batch. Excellent guitar work, somewhat better than I expected than from him. Definitely a keeper.
Punk Covers - "Gilligan's Island"
Crap. Why bother?
Radiohead - "Creep"
Already had it, but AG in its infinite wisdom, decided to re-download it for me. But it's one of the best Radiohead songs, IMO. A little too pretentious, but nothing out of Radiohead's character.
Radiohead - "Dollars and Cents"
Bleh. Too pretentious.
Radiohead - "Paranoid Android"
A little beter, but still annoying...
White Stripes - Jimmy the Exploder
Quite decent. Reminds me of Black Sabbath, a little.
TV Themes - "Charlie's Angels"
Crappy 70's pop. Bah!
TV Themes - "MASH"
I've always liked this song. It's unfortunate that the actual song with lyrics wasn't sent.
TV Themes - "The A-Team"
More crappy 70's pop.
Vue - "Hitchhiking"
Very nice. Something else I ought to check out.
Ween - "Fat Albert"
Idiotic. Bleh.

Well I must of missed this thread, thouhgt it had disappeared and I started a new one
So here is my post from that thread
Rob Zombie - Never Gonna Stop the Red K: Despite my best efforts I actually found myself liking this
The Union Underground - Natural High: Not the greatest thing I've ever heard but certainly not the worst
Coal Chamber - Sway: Another song which I expected to really hate but ended up liking a lot, maybe I'm just disturbed
ShamilBasayev's foreign dance music: Cool stuff, definitely staying on my playlist
Paul Van Dyk - Words: Nice enough Euro dance/trance record, could of done with being a minute shorter though
The Dirtbombs - I'm Through with White Girls: Not as great as Snappy makes out, but still pretty good
Alton Ellis - Rocksteady: Top Quality Jamaican Dancehall
Sisters of Mercy - Temple of Love: Alright, could do with being about 5(!) minutes shorter though
Fun Loving Criminals - There was a Time: While I wouldn't want to hear this at a club, it works very well on my computer
Bad Religion - Generator: I quite liked the other bad religion stuff PH sent in the past, but this wasn't too clever
Uncle Funk's songs: 6 great songs, including 2 classics, what can I say apart from great stuff
Btw Ramo, do you want me to send you the Mash theme with words?
